Read Poem: R A I N, by Dennis J. Sparks

And Then The Rains Came (part 1)
(a poetic perspective)

An Alien Eye peered
Into the Void, and Mused—
And a hot rock took form;
Desolate, Desperate, Denuded…
Meaningless, Mindless, Moronic;
The Eye blinked….
And then the rains came.
And the rock, breathed!
Verdant Forests, Misty Mountains, Expectant Waters
Cried out for Purpose.
Creatures emerged
As the Answering Bellow.
Then the two-legged Beast appeared
With his righteous pomposity,
Warlike posture,
Bent on deconstructing
All that was Pure.
It blinked again,
And then the rains came
As the Slate was wiped clean.
And a Rainbow appeared in the sun-soaked sky—
Another day, Another try!

And The Rain Came (part 2)
(a poet’s perspective)

Once more with Feeling
Was the Carrion Cry!
And so we try…and try…
And by and by
An Alien Eye
Stops by, to Spy
On the hot rock of yesteryear.
But Chaos and Strife still abound,
No lessons learned
From centuries yearned
For a tolerant concern
Of Dreams delayed.
The Song went out
To heavens above,
“No intelligent Life Found
On this piece of ground!”
So, we bid Adieu
To this two-legged Fool,
And let the Flora and Fauna Rule!
And then the rains came…anew…!
