LOVE Poetry: EXPLANATION TO A FLOWER, by Erik Peters

If I leave you, you’ll be trodden black
Or cut down by the mower’s shear
Or smothered by the Northwind’s cloak
At the dying time of year.

But if I cut your life-days short,
& bring your carcass to her.
Then every time she looks at me
I’ll see your long gone lustre.
