TRAGIC Poem: Sunflowers, At Dusk, by Erin Jamieson

we left the
wilting sunflowers
at dusk

aged yellow petals
scattered like ashes
open grave

grass fields where
we once picnicked
jam & tomato sandwich
split in two

your hand slipped
from mine
in the fading light

& I knew
we could never return
