LGBTQ+ Poem: You were, by Alyssia Urquhart-Eaton

Assert my name
My communication is blocked

Notch my cheekbone
You cannot touch
Be careful
For I am not faithful

You were
Not are

Dine on the memories of my embarrassment
Take my instinct to enrapture your positivity
Remember the illness
Hear the words of gloom

Are you sure
There’s not a cure

Pick something from my scalp
See how it glistens
Try to make your way in
See the wreaked trampoline park of lost kids
You now know that I am merely bones
