DEATH Poem: Eternal Sleep, by Diya Misri

Every night she laid
In bruising arms,
Choking – their hold,
Twisting, pushing prodding,
In the company
Of sharp whispers
Tinged with honey,
Breaking skin
To unleash
The quiet drips
Of ruby red.
Rocking sleep,
In their firmness,
A poison untouched,
Unprompted,
She drank,
Lulled unfalteringly,
Into Eternity.
