BODY IMAGE Poem: Plaster face, by Whitney McClelland

painted pristine
hides those
imperceptible
imperfections.

Beneath
shining eyes
deceptive smiles
glisten and glitter.

Mascara keeps
tears in
for fear it will
run.

Lips glossed
together
afraid to speak
of sadness.

Troubles masked
with makeup
to accept
yourself.
