GRIEF Poem: No Picture Hanging, by Donna Freeman

My father died alone
in a bed
in a room
no pictures hanging
the nurse on break
the filtered air
too cool to warm
the thin sheet
that covered him.
Miles of empty space
separated him
from a tie to me
As the snow blocks the view
of my car
stuck in place
he left.
