RELIGION Poem: Invitation, by Grace Sullivan

This morning I went out
in search of God.
But when I found him
in the sun-dazed field,
he lifted up his head
for just a moment
and then continued
tending olive trees.
I left with heavy eyes,
not seeing silence
as an invitation.
