### 1. **The Road Ahead**

The road ahead is long and bright,
With twists and turns, but that’s alright.
Each step you take, each choice you make,
Builds the path for dreams to wake.

So rise with hope, embrace the day,
Let courage guide you on your way.
For every challenge, every test,
Is just a chance to be your best.

### 2. **Believe in Tomorrow**

When shadows fall and doubts arise,
Look to the stars, the endless skies.
Believe in tomorrow, let your heart soar,
For the strength within will open doors.

With each new dawn, a chance to grow,
To chase the dreams that you long to know.
So take a step, be bold, be brave,
The world is yours; just learn to crave.

### 3. **Rise Again**

When you stumble, when you fall,
Remember this: you can stand tall.
With every setback, you will find,
A stronger spirit, a sharper mind.

So dust yourself, and rise again,
For every loss is not the end.
With grit and grace, pursue your flight,
And turn your struggles into light.

### 4. **The Power Within**

Deep in your heart, a fire burns bright,
A beacon of hope, a guiding light.
Harness your dreams, let them take flight,
For within you lies the power to ignite.

Embrace your journey, both near and far,
Know that you’re destined to shine like a star.
With passion and purpose, you’ll surely prevail,
For the strength within you will always prevail.

ODE Poem: Knowing me, Knowing you, by Dishebh Bhayana

Staring out a window, the clouds float astray
The peers in my class, all went about their way
Some talked, some smoked, quarrelled in the fray
Some swore, while some had tattoos on display

Maybe it were the shenanigans, or the carefree tone
For them to become one, and for me to become alone
Yet one day, the differences faded
The rain descended, and together we stayed

The differences we thought we had,
Were but presumptions, misunderstandings bland.
The sharps and flats, though distinct in play,
Together they blend, to bring the music we pray.

Sometimes it’s worth the effort to break the ice
For In telling the tales we come alive and thrive
Through every step and every stride
Knowing me is knowing you, side by side

Poem: Desert Allegory, by Gabriella Volk

Tuck your children into bed; safe in covers of dreams,
Far away from unimaginable things,
Kiss their little heads,
While far away a child their same age lies dead,
Send yours off to sleep,
Soothe the nightmares from their heads.

You shall not weep; for you have no cause.

They bury them on blankets of sand,
Some dead lay hand in hand,
Others solitary never to wake,
Sun bleached corpses in hell,
Leave them where they fell.
If you possess any decency or compassion know-one can tell,
Leave them where they fell.

BALLAD Poem: There is no You and I, only Me and Thee, by Austin Thomas Rietsch

(together)
Me don’t know why
Me going to cry a lot more than thee
Thee know that
Me told Thee this a million times
Thee go into a room
When Thee walk into it
Me never seen anything like it
People are different around thee
Me know this
They are funnier
They are happier
And they are slower to judge other people
They are slower to judge Me and Thee
And thee don’t even know
Thee are doing it
Thee change people just by being there
With Me

(apart)
How dare thee
Tell Me Thee has changed
Me is Different now
Thee is not
Thee is wanting to be
Thee is trying
And Me sees that
But
If Thee don’t see that
Then Me can’t do this anymore

(till death)
Me remember the first time
I met Thee
at a gathering
Me was bored
Me was lonely
Me was judged
Me watched everyone in the room
And then Me saw Thee
Thee ignored Me
Thee went outside to take a picture of the window
Where the others stood without Me
And while Me avoided Thee the entire evening
Me stepped close enough for Thee to see Me behind the others
Me was in the picture Thee took
Then Me left
Later
Me and Thee got together
There was a woman with a dog
Me wanted a dog
Thee asked to take a picture with the woman’s dog
That was the first picture

Of Me and Thee together
Although Me favorite picture
Was that of Me
Without Thee in it
That picture remains to be my favorite
Because Thee took it
And that was when Thee first lay eyes on Me

ENVIRONMENTAL Poem: Apparent Serenity, by Jungwoo Kaden Lee

At the end of summer, only a short time
before back-to-school sales began,
I saw an early and intrepid oak leaf lay
fallen, a hero, under its tree of origin.
Its left-behind brethren, sat, sussured
breezily in the comfort of their trees.
They might have lamented a lack
of hands to grab a silently screaming
face or swirling stars if they could,
but have entertained horrifically thoughts
in the face of their own imminent
seasonal mortality. Soon they will fall
in a variety of colors, and will end in
a multitude of anthropogenic ways;
crumbling crispy, charred charcoal black,
marred by a soot-laden grey sky,
reflecting an unholy glow,
a result of industrialism run amok
in an endless chase of profit over climate.

BALLAD Poem: Bushwalking the Mountain, by Joshua Finzi

You and I skidding across the gravel, the sandy loam,
entranced by dragonflies lancing the sticky sunlight for kicks.
When we were common tigers we danced over dandelions,
we burnished landscapes with kisses, we inscribed patterns
of our marriage across the mountains.
This is how I know you, as a butterfly dallying with
the dry surf,
gathering the winds of history beneath your wings.

NATURE Poem: Who am I, by Erica Marchant

Their ancient trunks cover our land
Home to a hundred creations
Their rise and fall each day
A circle of life in plain view

They breed from beauty to life love to nature
Yet where they flourish the grass perishes
Leaving behind dry acidic dust
Where only annoying weeds and dandilions grow
That nourishes the bumblebee

At dusk in autumn
A hawk perches on an empty branch
The splendor and terror of his feast of flesh and bone
As he consumed without fire
an unlucky rabbit or chipmunk lost to the natural order

The brown bath of leaves around my house
A heartache to my tender calloused hands

At midnight in winter
They keep earths creations warm
