True Vision
by Robert Shawn Flaherty

Once again, I see truth’s reflection,
after falling from grace-
no one else
could ever take your love’s place.
I could search all of my lifetime,
but never find another you-
true colors cascade,
love’s light comes through.
Down hallways of mirrored images,
which echo unto the past,
I think of the stains
that lonely shadows cast,
while the truth of higher love
opens my eyes to see–
yours is the only true vision
that’s ever been revealed to me.

Snow on the way, Poetry by Jeffery Moser

Snow on the way
by Jeffery Moser

Before we had this upstairs west window
There were only whistles, gong rocks, and etched
Contracts with comets. Remember how they
Raced across the sky with no capitals,
Punctuation, or rhyme? One shy star plunged,
Splintered growth and vanished. Nervous solons
Rummaged in the dry reeds until whiz kids
Recast the librettos. Now shall we gauge
What’s going on downtown? Looks like there remains
Outbreak of gold fever. Foolscaps amply
Clearer than hand mirrors, too. Oh, rich hour. Here’s
Lawrence’s notes on mornings! Corn Dance! Pretty
Christmas Eve! Tears! If this world ends, they can’t
Say we didn’t salvage the wares on our backs.

Letter Of Fire Opened

You should know my heart calls you aboard
But it knows you won’t come
Too many reasons it just doesn’t make sense
Never flashy and never free of responsibility
I can’t pretend I have time so while you lay lying I can’t believe
Tomorrow is green it’s a go
A heartbeat ceased could easily stop that
So I don’t care where you end up as long as I don’t have to see it
Disappear within the crowd
Just a moment
An hour alone
Reading laughing all pissed away

These nights have not been lonely
Just wish I were not horny
Erection all over the place
Good hearts do not scream
They have to speak privately to ears
I will not see you out
So how can I expect to connect snug
Inside of your thought process and wishes
Hell I will…

JASMINE NO MORE, Poetry by Daniel Hefty

JASMINE NO MORE
by Daniel Hefty

I wake up in the night thinking about children
not mine but yours
you broken mothers
snatched from security and comfort
thrust into a divide uncrossable
left at the bottom of the rubble
from a sectarian blanket bombing campaign for peace
and domination

You wanted something you had no right to request
democracy would never replace the Shahs and Kings
did you believe they cared about God more than power
as they hauled off your sons and husbands
in the springtime of their lives
the Arab spring
as fire and brimstone rained down from the sky

I see vast expanses of barren mountain desert
scattered with scant shrubs and giant boulders
hand planted by Allah
moonlight catches up to the shadows
traversing a border into the unknown
where pregnant mothers will give birth to offspring
who will never have…

HARMATTAN RESCUE, Poetry by HABIB AKEWUSOLA

HARMATTAN RESCUE
by HABIB AKEWUSOLA

Embrace impact,

Slower the thinker,

History is stigma.

Sleep not deeper

Join me in commissioning
‘Operation Boko_haram extinguisher’.

Over the night our girls

Might never return.

Courage beats fear,

Sweat for peace or

Bleed at war.

Call time a ghost,

Time to extinguish Boko_haram

Including her host.

Immediate cultivation of

Nationalistic seeds through the

North, Africa and beyond.

Improve dreams of me,

And fatherless playing naked

Underneath Sambisa’s leaves.

With equal sacrifice

Authority doesn’t involve guns,

Camouflage protects love, as

Civilisation and conscience

Seasonally evolve.
