FAIRY STORIES FOR REAL, Poetry Reading by Ginnie Siena Bivona

Poetry performed by actress VAL COLE

Matthew Toffolo interview Ginnie Siena Bivona:

Matthew: What is the theme of your poem?

Ginnie: The basic idea, I suppose, is the age old classic concept of finding the perfect lover and living happily ever after. And sometimes (I’m told) that happens…and sometimes not.

Matthew: How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?

Ginnie: Well, I hope they like it! And I hope it gives them a giggle or two.

Matthew: How long have you been writing poetry?

Ginnie: Since I was 42. One Sunday afternoon I wrote the first poem I’d ever written, it just spilled out onto the page. Now…next month I’ll be celebrating my 84th birthday…so I guess I could honestly say it’s been a long damn time.

Matthew: Do you have a favorite…

Without a Trace
by Natasha Turner

Years have gone by
But still can’t forget
Can’t get rid of this beating sound
Ticking in my head.

I know the reason
Can’t deceive no more
I have killed a body
In a silent war.

Screams left unheard
Echoing in my soul
For I dared not to take
An imposed mother role

Please help,
Can’t stand this pain no more,
My baby’s heart is still trapped
In a spirit so sore.

The guilt is killing me,
It’s tearing me apart
I need to start anew
Everything around me is so shut

Help me find my forgiveness, my place
Of a body I killed without a trace

Genre: Love, Rhyme

Patience
by R.D. Preston

My patience is a virtue
I give myself to thee
My kindness is about our love
Forever I promise it will be

I will give you all my love
As I cherish you each day
You have fulfilled my empty heart
As we begin our life this way

I will honor you with my life
From the beginning to the end
In sickness and in health
You will always be my best friend

And with this promise
I will always give to you
A life of never ending love
And a soul that is forever true

Crazy Boy
by R.Shanelle

http://www.twitter.com/rshanelle

Hey crazy boy why you acting like that
You talk funny, you walk funny why you acting so black
Angry boy why you so mad and mean mugging so hard
Paramount pictures should buy your story you who are nothing without God
You should be happy! Freedom is ringing you’re free at last
Yeah! Give them your story so the bootleggers can bootleg it and the producers can lace a soundtrack
Nutty Professor, Big Momma’s House, Madea’s Family Reunion, Color Purple and that crazy black boy
That sounds like a groupie in his myspace video blog yet he’s telling the truth boy
What can I say he gets attached like a pit bull that has tasted blood?
With jaws of steel that is a metaphor representing the stereotypes of society that detain my black brotha like the hard cold grip of his past…

THE MARKET PLACE, Poetry by Frances Sheehan

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

GENRE: LIFE.

THE MARKET PLACE
by Frances Sheehan

Swirling, twirling spirals of colour invade our eyes with

Insistence;

That we share in the carnival displayed at The Market Place.

Vendors call out and children laugh joyfully at goods displayed…

Deliciously;

Determined to tempt the desire of

Wanting, for its own sake and promise of sweet reward.

The Market Place, where happy smiling cheerful faces

Wander through its illustrious corridors,

Sampling here, looking there and passing on or buying!

Myriad smells and sounds mingle with alacrity

As Gypsy band plays ancient song……

And black-eyed Beauty pivots and turns

Gracefully; all eyes watching her dance!

The Market Place,

A refuge from maddened freeways, incessant city traffic

and noisy grey dull streets.

The Market Place, where for just a precious while

The Old and New in blessed harmonious empathy

Come to meet
