RHYME Poem: Unrequited Deity, by Chase Walker

I awoke from a slumber, so heavy and deep
Upon sitting up I noticed my clothes at my feet
Gathering the strength that became dormant from sleep
I attempted to lean forward and almost fell from my seat

Suddenly I realized I knew not of my location
Nothing that caught my eye was any placation
Then from a distance I heard laughing so sinister
There was no way to quell my fear, nothing to administer
To the insides of my ears to stop them from bleeding
That’s when she appeared without warning or greeting

A devil in disguise; an angel telling lies?
Whoever this woman was she would be my demise
Despite my many tries, she allured and tantalized
She drew me in with her forked tongue
To torture and terrorize

The epitome of beauty, according to yours truly
But the power that this woman holds is going to undo me
Why would she pursue me? She knows not what she’s doing
But I can’t let well enough be, so for her I was perusing

Consumed by erotic visions, what has she done?
I can’t get her body out of my mind. Am I the only one?
The only one to feel like this, maybe I should run
A thought that quickly gets dismissed, my reasoning undone

Here she stands before me, such a sight to see
Wearing nothing but her supple skin so voluptuously
I tried to speak but lost the words, what was wrong with me?
I tried to reach out for her, but it happened so suddenly
She disappeared, no sound was heard, why wouldn’t she be with me?
Just like the rest, the memories now blurred, of my Unrequited Deity
