Children Of Adam, Poetry by Huseyin Abudharr Ali

 Genre: Political

Were there noone left in the world with a conscience,
And the idea of human rights was seen as old fashioned nonsense,
Were the media to call my peaceful means acts of terror,
And I was alone in this world on my endeaver,
Were people to spit at me in the streets,
And never listen to a word I say whenever I’d speak,
Were they to try make me turn my back I could never let them,
For they are the children of Adam how can I forget them,

Even if they were to hang me in Trafalgar Square,
And I struggled to stay conscious out of fear,
Even when trying to find hope seems hopeless,
And I they drugged me up so much I couldn’t even focus,
Even if they gave me a choice between London Dungeon,
Or the stolen wealth of the tower of London,
Were they to try give me amnesia I could never let them,
For they are the children of Adam how can I forget them,

If I ever lived when kindness was seen as a weakness,
And I was the only one left who believed this,
If my cause was seen as a type of mental illness,
And I became a pariah in my community because I feel this,
If my body was so exhausted I could barely move,
And the only options put in front of me was quit or loose,
Then they offered to put the sun in right hand and the moon in my left,
Still they are the children of Adam how can I forget the oppressed,
