Read Poem: CROSSING PATHS, by Jennifer Wagner

Are you happier without me?
He asks
For a moment I cannot breathe

My world is not as bright when I cannot bask
In the glow of your grin
My cheeks miss the breeze of your laughter
My chest is weak for not standing in the deep
Waiting to receive your rolling tide

You sweep in and back out before night

I am not happier
But instead I am thankful to have kept you
Pinned in the bulletin board of my mind
Like postcards of places we were

I am not happier
But I am also not without happiness
