JFK, Poetry by Nets L.

Genre: Political
Type:. Haiku

Titled: JFK

Hollowed footsteps
rhythmic death
stamps you dead
While processional silence
tunnels through the brain
carriage wheels
click stones loudly
through the shadow
of a man

WHY DO PEOPLE HATE?, Poetry by Felicia L. Smith

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

Genre: Discrimination

“WHY DO PEOPLE HATE?”

Why do people hate one another
Simply because of their skin?
Whether black or white, whether brown or yellow
We all bleed red from within.

Why do people hate one another
Because of their lack of much cash?
Because they’re not rich and driving a fancy car
Doesn’t mean they should be treated like trash.

Why do people hate one another?
Equality has caused an uproar.
Like it or not, it is a reality.
It’s something we can not ignore.

Why do people hate one another?
A waste of energy throughout the day
With all the problems we have in this country
Stop hating, stay humble, and pray.

~Felicia L. Smith~

An Election, Poetry by Diana Benskin

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

Genre: Society, Political

America is in mourning
Today her tears are falling
Those votes that were casted
Seem to’ve been wasted
on the President elect
Whom many now reject

This Presidential Win on which injustice ,fear and divisiveness was erected
This is the premise on which he was elected
The diplomacy portrayed is faux
A breeding ground for discrepancies and misogyny to grow

Now is the time to stand firm and let your voices be heard
your vote is your word
That chose the Popular and rightful president
Not some unhinged and intolerable government

The crusaders cries in the street
will become louder when the numbers meet
Let the crusaders pass
For a snake has just slithered through us in the grass.

In the words of George Nathan
all the above will happen
when no votes are cast by you the good citizen

Moon Sparks, Poetry by James R Adams II

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

Genre: Life

The Sun threw sparks of Moon Light
To warm the waters of the Gulf
The sparks they danced and flickered
The World lost in myself

A menthol smoked me deeply
As I rode a Marlboro Rail
The hot Gulf air it breathed me
Too distracted to even tell

My gravity it pulled the Earth
It could not separate
I sucked its helium through my feet
It could not float away

I swore again this one last time
It would never be the same
I payed my toll, the bridge crossed me
As the sky below me rained

The Emperor kept on dancing
No pitchforks pierced his feet
The demons all were laughing
Their works both incomplete

Why then won’t you tell me
It’s so hard to separate
The madness from the music
Our Illusions from our Fate

Most mysteries go unanswered
No need for question marks
The days…
