Every piece you come across,
every word and line formed,
taken right from the core part of their hearts,
drawn from the deepest emotions,
each sentence carved with brilliant artistry,
hours worth thinking, re-writing & editing,
reaching the zenith of their soul,
inked the paper with calligraphic blood & sweat,
like a personal diary meant to be read.
A diary not to keep to oneself, but
to transcend the people from natural to the supernatural
to fill the world with the magic lying in their hands
to just make the earth a beautiful place.

Read Poetry: FRUSTRATION, by Patricia Marvin

Our souls and Spirits long for the justice that is due

So long we’ve wanted to believe that Injustice would not prevail

Why  does looking at my skin cause YOU such distress; the urge to kill

Then it hit me like rocks from an avalanche

It’s not the color of my skin but what’s beneath that makes you unhinged

Brilliant minds shaped from a long line of kings and queens

Original creators of creating all of what you see, not all credited to our ancestors as it should be

We were beaten, whipped, hung, set on fire and drowned just to name a few of your injustices that tried to keep us down

With resilient spirits and determination we fought back through sit-ins, picket lines, water hoses and baton beatings

Your continued injustices we survived but like ashes we rise

Like pesticides used to kill weeds you use drugs and put them in our communities killing our men, women and children like a killing field

This enemy we have yet to beat but we will

You tried to convince us that OUR pride does not matter and our loyalties are misplaced

YOU ARE WRONG!

we will band together like links in a chain

Together we stand together we will be free

It’s true, we may not all stand, but the majority outweigh the few

Your new weapon of choice which truly isn’t new at all

executing us in broad daylight and many in the dark

we see you hiding behind the law

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

We will not back down or shut up until Justice is satisfied by your law

Heaven forbid if justice is not done, because we will rise and this time you will fall!

Read Poetry: Big Buts, by David Creighton

Big Buts

I love you, but wipe your feet

I love you, but you’re gaining weight

I love you, but milk does not belong on the fridge door

I love you, but even socks should be folded

I love you, but that comb over isn’t fooling anyone

I love you, but you sometimes smell of peppers

I love you, but not ABBA at 7 a.m. on a Sunday

I love you, but don’t feed raccoons

I love you, but leave your damn wife already

Read Poetry: Ripples, by Arna Baartz

the disc that spins

inside my chest

methodically collects

sensations

it colours my world magenta and black

if I let it

but

these colours

are yours my love

and I spin them back to you

a gift of freedom….

channelling you

through my sensational machine

makes no ripple in your world of mixed message

but I hear you

you beg for ripples

you scream for change

I can feel it

throwing orange like a manic painter

splattering my floor, making me

slip, slippery

on lust and pain

the moon is high

wash your disc in a clear stream

I will feel it

I will know

Read Poetry: Terrain Terrific, by Sujoy Bhattacharya

Toughness lightens your voluptuous jaws
with monstrous hunger
to engulf human edifice of excellent creation .
How
could you maintain silky softness behind your stony of
ruthlessness ?
The sky above watches with tears of reprimanding
scolds,
your crafty games you play to toy with the flimsy effort of
human beings-
helpless puppet to the capricious whims of your
restless nature .
Molten saps of petrified dynasties running
through your crevices –
whisper the incantation to revive the
dormant fossils awaiting for quenching its thirst for solar
radiation .
Your crude cajoling for witnessing human molestation
by your retinue ,
confer wooing suffering to earthly beings .
Poets and writers invest
on your infatuating aspects to reap golden crops .
You are a menacing medley of both creation and annihilation.
Your bridal attraction , your enchanting enigma
allure people to attend the
feasting ceremony you arrange to trap your victims .
The sky scolds
you wheedlingly for your crafty devices to caress creatures
to devilish death .
You muse mockingly at the shedding of
crocodile’s tears of the sky for the dying earth .

Poetry: Silent A by Nicole Long

Genre: Motivational, Society, Inspirational

They call me Silent A—
Who am I? They ask and don’t ask
Slithering into a discussion about
School, politics, what happened on the news—
While everyone gazes for a reaction,
Do they look concerned? What are they thinking? Do they know?
But you can’t seem to get out of the dazed,
Confused state I put you in.

I come when you least expect it—
In the middle of a bar,
The music pumping, juices flowing
Through your body.
The heart starts pounding,
Panic sets in like a
Storm crossing the horizon.
You look around, making sure no one notices.

In the middle of the night—
3am as silence fills the air,
Coming off of sleep meds and
Mixture of Vodka Tonics and Merlot,
Anything to keep the mind
At an altered state of nowhere and beyond.
But I’m screaming at you,
The toxicity won’t keep me away.

I’m the one who kills—
Friendships, relationships, your purified mind
Keeping you away from what you love,
What you don’t love.
Standing in that darkened corner,
Waiting for that next high off of me.
They call me Silent A—
You can’t see me, they can’t see me, but I see you.

Poetry Reading: Heaven Cried Too by Ty Davis

Poem performed by Elizabeth Rose Morriss

Get to know the poet:

What is the theme of your poem?

The theme of the poem is family/emotional.

What motivated you to write this poem?

The passing of my Grandmother in 2015. She passed a day after my birthday, February 26th. It rained that day and snowed a bit. Pretty much the whole week leading up to her funeral, the weather was like that. But the day of her funeral the sun was out. I guess she had a warm welcome that day.

How long have you been writing poetry?

This is really like the second poem I wrote. I not really a poet. I wrote a poem a little before that called “No More Mr. Nice Ty”, it was like the opening of a short script I wrote of the same title. I thought it was sorta wack though.

If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would that be?

I’m not really trying to have dinner with a zombie, bro. I don’t know. Maybe the old Kanye.

What influenced you to submit to have your poetry performed by a professional actor?

I got email out of the blue about submitting a poem. This was like the only poem I’ve really had. I’m writer battling writer’s block right now. Maybe my Grandma and my fam that I named in the poem knew I needed some inspiration and trying to align the universe up for me.

Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?

Yeah, the short script I mentioned earlier. I’m working on a pilot and feature right now.

What is your passion in life?

Writing, storytelling , creating. Just being able to create characters and come up with storylines. It’s like having a whole universe in your head. Right now I’m just trying to figure how to get it out.

Poetry Reading: CONGO, CONGO by Miroslav Atanasov

Poem performed by Elizabeth Rose Morriss

Get to know the poet:

What is the theme of your poem?

The Congo Free State crimes and the continual suffering of the Congo people.

What motivated you to write this poem?

I’ve passionately wanted to share the Congo story with the world.

How long have you been writing poetry?

Off and on for 12 years.

If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would that be?

Jesus Christ

What influenced you to submit to have your poetry performed by a professional actor?

Your Great festival platform.

Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?

Yes. One movie script on the subject. Also I do scholarly writing and media commentaries.

What is your passion in life?

Helping people. Especially in Africa.

Poetry Reading: WORDS by Lawrence Klein

Poem performed by Elizabeth Rose Morriss

Get to know the poet:

What is the theme of your poem?

Empowering individuals to take control of themselves, to accomplish their goals. We all have that power, but unlike the simplest toy or device that we buy, WE do not come with an ‘Operators Manual’! This poem IS one, it reveals the simplicity of changing conciousness!

What motivated you to write this poem?

We have developed a powerful Smartphone Biofeedback instrument and I wrote the poem to explain how it can empower YOU!

How long have you been writing poetry?

Since 1972 – Forty-five years!

If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would that be?

William Shakespeare

What influenced you to submit to have your poetry performed by a professional actor?

While I can read my own poetry, I wondered what an actor could bring to it with their own interpretation of it!

Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?

Yes, I wrote a Children’s Book – “Jacque the Lumberjack”, I wrote decades ago and is about to be published!

I have just started to Write a Book on Elite Sport Psychology, and my Forty Three Years Work with Olympic and Professional Athletes with the Mind Over Muscle Program I co-authored with Major Nory Laderoute, former Athletic Director of the Canadian Armed Forces Combat Training Center. It reveals the Power of Your Mind, to every individual – and how you can simply “Take Charge of Yourself”!

What is your passion in life?

Skiing, Consciousness, Self-Realization and Family
