Read Poem: The Mission, by Ron Glick

You’ve got no love,
And you’ve got no glory,
You’ve got nothing left to give,
So that’s the end of your story,
Well I’m sitting here,
And I hope that you listen,
As hard as it seems,
It’s just part of the mission.

The mission is a job,
It’s a duty, it’s a score,
It’s what picks you up,
Makes you stand up for more,
You don’t get rewarded,
It’s not about giving,
It’s all about goals,
And the will to keep living.

These things you know,
They’ve been there all along,
You just forgot the lyrics,
Lost the tune to the song,
You can’t give in,
Not even a fraction,
You have a legacy to pass on,
That can’t survive distraction.

You have to be there,
For anyone to hear you,
If you’re not there,
No one else will review,
So get this straight,
Assume the position,
Get off your back,
And get on with the mission!
