Gasoline Tears by Gina Walker III

She looked at him with anger

How could he impale her with his wit

You could have said that you hated me

As the black sun rose in the dead of winter

Scars to last a lifetime

Blemishes of a renewed threshold

Torn to shreds like a lions prey

Guess we will never know love she said

As the gasoline came out of her eyes

And the sweat of blood upon the pillows and sheets

Fire of vomit project out from her mouth and heart

There it is; lust, hate, love, desire

And he burned just like her daddy

With those gasoline tears

Lost Generation, Poetry by Roderick Dupree

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

Genre: Life

Lost Generation by Roderick Dupree

Relationships are just toys we play with when bored

Support for one another is something unexplored.

Loyalty is just a word with negative intentions of slaving

Envy is our sweetest nature of craving.

Love is our worst nightmare

Hate is our definition of care.

Sex has poised our mind

Faith is undefined.

Attention is the fire to our soul

Negativity is fuel to help reach the popularity goal.

Respect is what we neglect

Warm souls are what we reject.

Death brings love

Selling our souls are what we’re proud of.

Interview, Poetry by Aparajita Kumari

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

Genre: Realism

Interview

Hesitant half steps,
Ready to turn and rewind.
‘I could have done better.’ He thinks.
And looks at the folds on the crease of his shirt.
Three more interviews in the pipeline for today.
I wish I didn’t look so exhausted.
I wish I had brought a change.
I wish I had bought another pair of presentable shoes.
Shall that do it?
The very familiar folder file,
That you notice adorning many a hand in the city,
With a degree inside,
And a superstitious man outside.
I wish I could speak in English like the other candidates.
Can they see through my exasperation?
Another air conditioned building,
And five minutes of respite.
Tick tock tick tock the clock doubles up,
And rhymes with the thud in his chest.
The receptionist calls.
Bold, confident strides,
Only to return as hesitant half steps.

Pieces Of You, Poetry by Hansteven Selfa

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

Genre(s): love, romance, first love, everywhere, life, metaphor, happiness

Pieces Of You by Hansteven Selfa

I find pieces of you in distorted cosmic dusts
In falling stars, I see your name so bright
You are the street signs, whenever I am lost
When you’re here, everything feels so right.

I figure you in a notional painting
Discover you between the pages of my book
In a quandary, you are the silver lining
I find pieces of you wherever I look.

You are the star I vision in the sky
And you’re also the yellow in the rainbow I see
You are the eagle I find up high
You are everywhere I’ll be.

The Man, Poetry by Edward Matyja

      The Man by Edward Matyja

      Pills.

He took a plethora of pills.

A provided, pompous, plethora of pills being popped every day without stop. Properly placing the provided, pompous, plethora of petite, purple pills into his palm, and then popping them down his throat. He does it blindly, hoping in some way it will take away the pain. Maybe it does, and maybe it doesn’t. Only he knows the truth. Who am I to speak for him?

Alone inside is his constant state of mind; sublime at times, but otherwise…dead. End of sentence, but not of his. Damned with this disease, more than just his fight, but his family’s too. If he could only get the goddamn courage to tell them. Only he knows the truth. Who am I to speak for him?

Eat, sleep, chemo was all he seemed to know…

Charlie The Mouse by Margaret Robertson

My name is Charlie and I’m a little mouse

I live behind the skirting board in a posh house

I loved living here it was my dream

Until the lady saw me and began to scream

She tried to hit me with her shoe

Her language made the air turn blue

Escaping within an inch of my life

      What a really loathsome wife

I was nearly speared with her heel

That would have made me really squeal

The man almost splattered me with his bat

Now he’s set up a baited trap

They really think I’m Dolly Dimple

Sorry folk I’m not that simple

I’m now hiding under the floor

I’ve decided I cannot take any more

I don’t know why they want me dead

All I do is nibble their bread

Soon I’ll be looking for a new house

      Then…

To Lead Well by Bob Vanourek

      I’ll start within,

      Cultivating quality character,

      Acting with integrity,

      Listening with my heart,

      Composed amid chaos,

A soul flooding forth with love.

      I’ll reach out,

      Caring and connecting,

      Serving,

      Engendering trust,

      Building relationships,

      Unleashing others who soar.

      I’ll step up,

      Saying “Yes,”

      Choosing wisely,

      Embracing change,

      Striving for what’s right,

      Pursuing our dreams.

      I’ll leave a legacy,

      A team of partners,

      Companions with courage and character,

      Leading and following,

      Creators of worthy deeds,

      Together undaunted.

These Are The Times, Poetry by Latonia Sears

      So many in debt and

      so many others going under

these are the times that make

us think which make us wonder

      Genre: Life, Society

These Are The Times by Latonia Sears

      So many in debt and

      so many others going under

these are the times that make

us think which make us wonder

About the things we can’t change

everything is so different these days

      really looks and sounds strange

These are the times when your every day

      has become so fast paced

can’t slow down for this thing

      we call the rat race

I can just imagine the stories you

have heard around town, on the news,

on the corner or even in the schools

      These are the times

      when we must stick together

      break bread and say

      a prayer with one another

      Stop hurting start hugging

      join hands and do something

      stand beside each other

      you know like brothers

      Yes these are the times

      that turn mice into men

      and foe into friend

      So what will we do

      where will we go

      don’t you know?

      Time is ticking

      while days are passing

      make a decision

      no more guessing

      These are the times

      not to run and hide

      stand up be brave

      show some pride

      Yes these are the times

      when “We The People”

      have to make a change

      and get on the bus

      Remember these are the times

      when you need to participate

      because after all aren’t you

      a part of this place?
