What is the theme of your poem?

CHILDHOOD INFATUATION

How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?

I WOULD LIKE THEM TO DISSOLVE IN SWEET NOSTALGIA AND RELIVE THERE OWN CHILDHOOD MISADVENTURES.

How long have you been writing poetry?

I BELIEVE I HAD A POETIC BEND RIGHT FROM CHILDHOOD. BUT I AM VERY VERY LAZY AND USED TO KEEP POETRY IN MIND AND DAY-DREAM. IT WAS ONLY VERY LATE IN LATE, THAT IS AT ABOUT THE AGE OF 60, I BEGAN POURING POESY ON TO PAPER MAINLY BECAUSE MY BOSS AT WORK THOUGHT AND CONVINCED ME THAT I WAS GOOD AT IT.

Do you have a favorite poet?

I SEE WORDSWORTH AND SHELLEY COMPETING HERE WITH BROWNING CLOSE BY. BUT I WOULD NAME SHELLEY.

What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry performed by a professional actor ?

I HAVE A FEELING OF GRIEVANCE THAT MY POETRY HASN’T MET WITH THE ACCEPTANCE IT SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED AT THE SITES WHERE I HAVE PUBLISHED IT. A FRIEND RECOMMENDED TRYING POETRYFESTIVAL AND I SENT IN MY POEM IN THE HOPE OF GETTING THE MUCH-NEEDED RECOGNITION. VERY SELFISH INDEED!

Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?

I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT THE INDIAN PHILOSOPHY OF VEDANTA. I HAVE SOME PHILOSOPHICAL ESSAYS PUBLISHED IN THE WEB. I HAVE ALSO BEEN A PROLIFIC CONTRIBUTOR TO DISCUSSIONS ON VEDANTA AT SEVERAL WEBSITES. I AM SERIOUSLY INTERESTED IN INDIAN ASTROLOGY TOO, INTO WHICH I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCHES. A ENGLISH NOVEL IS ON THE ANVIL. BUT IT IS MOVING VERY SLOW. ALSO PLANNED IS A SHORT BOOK ON VEDANTA THAT THE COMMON MAN CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND.

I WRITE POETRY IN MY NATIVE MALAYALAM TOO. MY MALAYALAM POEMS HAVE BEEN APPRECIATED.

MOST OF MY POETRY IN ENGLISH AND MALAYALAM TOTALLING ABOUT 138 CAN BE READ HERE:

What is your passion in life?

TOTAL ENLIGHTENMENT WHICH ECKHART TOLLE HAS EXTOLED.

Immense thanks for asking me these questions. Hope my answers are helpful.

To Build A Home, Poetry by Stephanelle Mewouo

To Build A Home
by: Stephanelle Mewouo

To build a home is to tear apart
All the things that broke our hearts.
To tie together all the strings
That hung about lost as they sway with our movements like wings.

To make a dream is to rise above
the standards. Of what is suppose to be in order to become what we are. To learn to say yes to the opportunities that have yet to come. To hope that in the pleasure of our serendipity, we are faced with the consequences that our innocence tends to result in.

I scream inside so you will hear, just how loud my silence can’t be.

To create magic is to take all the pieces that seemed impossible to obtain and create a masterpiece. An art that only we could understand. So that when our home is built, we know that all of the dreams that we kept secret were being tied together. And it was now possible to be. As one separate unity, we are able to become.

Dear Bully: A Collection of Poems about Bullying, Poetry by Joyce Fields

Dear Bully:
We forgive you for the hurt that you’ve caused,
For the pain and the terror you’ve brought us.
Some good has come from your horrible ways
Because, Dear Bully, you’ve taught us
How not to treat others, how not to act
How not to cause others to fear us.

Dear Bully:

Some good has come from your horrible ways
Because, Dear Bully, you’ve taught us
How not to treat others, how not to act
How not to cause others to fear us.
God is watching, Dear Bully,
And we truly want Him to cheer us.
We’ll remember to use the Golden Rule
And be kind and respectful to others
Because, even though we’re all different,
We all are sisters and brothers.
So your power to make us tremble, Dear Bully,
That power is being taken
And soon, very soon, Dear Bully,
To a new day we’ll awaken.
We hope that you will join us,
Making this world a better place.
We’ll stand shoulder to shoulder together,
And we’ll surely win the race!

Can you hear the bombers ma as they fly above our heads?
They’re only trying to end it ma, get ready to be dead.

Can you see the mushroom cloud? Tell pa to come and look,
It’s lighting up the kitchen, setting fire to a book.

Can you feel the wind ma as it blows us all away?
Soon we’ll all be dust ma, only shadows left to play.

Can you hear the ticking ma of the clock upon the wall?
The time is fast approaching when we won’t be here at all.

Rite of Passage, Poetry by Olalekan Joseph Ajayi

Tonight I enter the forest of words
The moon a lamp unto my naive feet

Rite of Passage
by Olalekan Joseph Ajayi

Tonight I enter the forest of words
The moon a lamp unto my naive feet
Like the prophets of old I bear no sword
Just calabash of ink and famished sheet

I hear harsh clichés from nocturnal birds
Seeking to drown the voice of the songbird
The stagnant river smells of putrid fish
The trees at its banks shed leaves of anguish

From the cacophony came thunder’s voice
Only worthy tongues get to the whetstone
Only circumcised hearts embrace the Muse
Only truth bearers etch their names on stone

The poet’s journey is one of solitude
Laughters and sorrows of a million souls
To be delivered in great altitude
Cling unto me like flies to open sores

Like a madman at war with strange voices
Voices in my head battle for my tongue
They bid speak, write in measured verses
For my words are untainted to fight wrongs

My parched tongue and empty bowels mock me
The scroll shall be my bread and the ink drink
Mine eyes have seen the book that makes me free
A messenger, my voice shall curse this stink

Tomorrow, I emerge from the forest
A valiant initiate of the Poets’ court
With my free verses and blend of new forms
I shall better the art of poetasters

RIVER’S LIFE, Poetry by Matjaz Trcek

Peace through one,

RIVER’S LIFE
by MATJAZ TRCEK

Peace through one,
peace through all,
I, carrier of flow to seed the banks,
to bring death and birth,
through cycle never ending.

Of underground caves of ever night life I am,
Flow of me that makes the springs,
takes the life from me to you.

Sadness is strong and happiness too,
for your’s will be short,
but mine will never end,
for your’s will be painful,
but mine forever content.

I nurse you till you join the soil,
coming back to me to explore the world.

Flow with me child,
feel all there is, was and will be,
for I am all.

Assignations of the Heart – Poetry Reading by Fayton Hollington. Performed by Danielle Nicole

People should respond honestly, which in my book is that initial gut reaction to something heard, done, or witnessed. That is their true discernment speaking. We tend to push that little voice aside, and find ourselves saying, If only I would have listened to my instinct. That is our inner voice, discernment if you will; leading us away from erroneous decision…. Allow their gut, to speak their truth.

Watch ASSIGNATIONS OF THE HEART:

Get to know poet Fayton Hollington:

What is the theme of your poem?

Pensive love provoking the heart, while boggling the mind.

How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?

People should respond honestly, which in my book is that initial gut reaction to something heard, done, or witnessed. That is their true discernment speaking. We tend to push that little voice aside, and find ourselves saying, If only I would have listened to my instinct. That is our inner voice, discernment if you will; leading us away from erroneous decision…. Allow their gut, to speak their truth.

How long have you been writing poetry?

I’ve been writing poetry for twenty years. I have never actively sat down to write poetry. I was either inspired by something I witnessed, or heard. Most of my poetry comes to me in a dream.

Do you have a favorite poet?

Maya Angelou and Langston Huges, are the two who has most intrigued me. After a spoken word performance, an audience member, told me I was the male version of Mya Angelou. Quite the compliment.

What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry performed by a professional actor?

Becoming a winning novelist of WILDsound writing competition, I was waiting for our paths to cross, and us being able to sync up at the right time. Being self-published, I put myself on deadlines, and stick to them. I had just completed the final tweak of my next release, when this came across my email. The timing was right.

Do you write other works? Scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?

My literary accomplishment includes all genres, self -taught in all. Award winning Actor / Novelist / Poet. Three completed novels, using rough draft screenplays as templates, two sitcom pilots, and a host of poetry; round out my literary accomplishments to date.

As a novelist, I challenge myself by writing within a box. What tighter box is there than the screenplay format. Yes, for me; the working template of a all my novels, begin with a solidified screenplay. This makes the novel a breeze to construct, and fun to watch, as the characters, locations, and subtextual nuances in a screenplay, come to literal life in the novel. This is my process, and I have never experienced writer’s block. Before the first words are placed on a page, the outline has to be thoroughly flushed out in my mind.

What is your passion in life?

My passion is to enlighten, unearth, and serve up reality, unfettered to society. As an artist; one on a mission, this is coming to fruition.

__________

Screenplay for my novel “Conception of A Dialysis Patient (the untold truths)” now completed in Los Angeles.

PAIN, Poetry by Sophia Margulies

Tear drops roll slowly

Pain
by Sophia Margulies

Tears stream down my face

As I breathe heavily

My eyes stare into my reflection

Not a blink

Tear drops roll slowly

Then all at once

I grab the counter hoping for some support

But end up losing my strength

And falling

I sink until I am having trouble breathing

I gasp for air

But I end up breathless

My heart pounds so loudly

My ears ring

I close my eyes

That is when the flashbacks occur

I see the fights

I hear the words

I see my hope diminishing

I put a smile

Because that’s all that’s left of me

My eyes shine

Not from happiness

But from the acceptance of one thing

Pain

Something unfixable

I tape up the fractures dug deep into my skin

But tape is replaceable

With new wounds

That can now only scar

Maybe one day

I will be happy

This life full of maybes

When will I finally

Smile

And

Mean

It

DIARY OF THE ÜBERMENSCH, Poetry by Juan Antonio Garcia

DEC. 17th. 1957

The starry night announced a magnificent day tomorrow. Everything around me spins like planets orbiting their stars. So much to learn and so little time to make it. The alignment of these five planets brings some strange energy to me. I feel one with the Universe. One with the cosmos, indivisible.

Sometimes I think life imitates literature. All these books in my living room are but elements to transcend reality. A distorted reality. Nothing is real but in its essence. And this essence we cannot reach. Thus it is its own nature, that it doesn´t exist in our known dimensions.

I imagine multiple dimensions waiting to be discovered. Reality has its own limits.

JAN. 27th. 1958

My wife, Andrea, is more beautiful than ever today. Her smile illuminates the whole house. I feel like a king by her side. Her nervous looks when we make love. Her infinite kisses. Her eyes flooding desire.

I´m a prisoner of her world. I live for her. Without her, my life would be empty. Love spreads all around. And it is this love for Andrea that fulfills my days, my nights, my dawns…

Loving Our Blue Earth
By Betsy Brandt

Love spoke and made our blue earth, not to be the center of the universe, but its muse,

Love spoke and made our blue earth the third rock from the sun, Terra, solid, drifting, with vibrant, exploding life,

Love spoke and made the third rock spin and circle around the sun, with a tilt Terra spins, making seasons abound, arrays of colors bursting,

Love spoke and made Luna, dazzling sister to our blue earth, tugging, teasing our waters, one declared we’d often visit, just because,

Love spoke and made our sun, stunningly rise and fall peacefully for our blue earth, but no, Love gently spins and turns Terra to the East each day,

Love spoke and made our sun, Helios, our brightest Hero Star, one we could ever follow, never floating away, like Love itself,

Love spoke and made our Star give our blue earth, light, life, our sight, warmth- just right, boundless energy, gratefully received,

Love spoke and made our blue earth ride in the Galaxy of Milky Way, majestic spiral,
glowing band, heavenly teeming of kinship,

Love spoke and made Love to be written in the Sky, never alone, designed, evolving,
sustained harmony, loving our blue earth, gracefully conceived for Love.
