JUST FOR A DAY, Poetry by Robby J Keating)

Just for one day would you live inside of me

see how the world is broke we gotta fight to break us free

and it’s easy to bring another down

it only breeds misery

JUST FOR A DAY
by Robby J Keating)

Just for a day I’d like to find your way

if your’e indigenous show me how to play

don’t need no hidden backlash on what I am about

if you need to vent on life just call me up and shout

just for a day I’d like to be in your mind

feel what it’s like to feel the rants from those so blind

never felt a racist vibe coming from me inside

but I’ve seen the looks on faces when others are unkind

Just for a day let me be president

I’d get rid of us and them n’ make we are one events

same blood we all die the same do you get my drift life don’t make sense

spin box spin those minds of ours chippin’ away at our natural defence

Just for one day would you live inside of me

see how the world is broke we gotta fight to break us free

and it’s easy to bring another down

it only breeds misery

just for one day would you like to be president

or prime minister that run’s the show like it’s all an accident

it might shut down a shallow face that gets carried around

see nothin’s safe no nothin’s safe ‘ no nothin’s safe ‘round town

just for a day

swap sides to the receiving end

we won’t ever know what it’s like for those

’til we learn to bend

our rule books that are made to break

our rigid minds that we hold so fake

our screwed up emotions that divide us all

on wake

just for a day so much we all could face

just for a day swap shoes with those we hate n’ chase

just for a day it could be make or break

just for a day just for a day

just for a day

C, Poem by Natalie Henderson

she was the kind of girl people wrote poetry about. wild heart , wild soul , wild hair. she couldn’t be tamed. she shifted the universe. the sun followed her smile and the moon was slave to her pain. she wanted to be nothing but free , leaving her mark on everything and everyone she touched. she commanded attention wherever she went , a vibrant rose with more thorns than she should have. she had the intensity of a waterfall , flowing with rage and demanding to be heard.

she was the kind of girl people wrote poetry about. soft heart , soft love , soft soul. she radiated every beautiful color in the spectrum. blues , pinks , greens , and indigos. her bones had flowers growing from them , planting seeds in the ground with every step. she was the manifestation of everything she found beautiful. her love lived infinitely in the stars.

she was the kind of girl that people wrote poetry about. so destructively damaged and so beautifully broken. she could make the brightest of days dark , and the darkest of days light. she lived in the moment. breaking herself on purpose to remember how to appreciate the sun when it came back. you couldn’t hold on to her. you couldn’t contain her. she is poetry.

A MOMENT by Oyinkan Agboola

One moment, we are a race who sees beauty in everything

The next, we have devolved into a race that sees beauty only in the vanity of appearance.

One moment, we speak philosophically

The next, we mock our own wise words.

One moment, we weep over the empty voids that are supposed to be filled with emotions.

The next, we celebrate the emptiness of the void.

One moment, we are so willing to fall in love

The next moment, we fear to leave the safety of the loveless heart.

One moment, we cling to humanity

The next, we gleefully tramp on it.

The moment we once again begin to see the perfection in imperfection,

The moment compassion begins to flow again in our blood,

The moment the mockery stops and the loving starts.

That is the moment we regain our humanity and lose the insanity.

My Compass, Poetry by Esmeralda Hernandez

I was living my life one bad step at a time, letting this world be my guide.

I was lost in a dark path until I saw the light of your grace. Shining through the sadness and madness. I was trying to avoid your calling, I felt dirty in your presence.

Oh Lord I would be lost without you, you are the compass of my life and my eternal salvation. You are the light that shines in my darkness and calms my sadness.

My Compass by Esmeralda Hernandez

I was living my life one bad step at a time, letting this world be my guide.

I was lost in a dark path until I saw the light of your grace. Shining through the sadness and madness. I was trying to avoid your calling, I felt dirty in your presence.

Oh Lord I would be lost without you, you are the compass of my life and my eternal salvation. You are the light that shines in my darkness and calms my sadness.

Now I seen the path you have prepared for me,
The path of fulfillment in your grace, I can’t even explain the joy my heart feels.

Knowing that all along I was not alone, you were there catching me on my every stumble.

Oh Lord I would be lost without you, you are the compass of my life and my eternal salvation. You are the light that shines in my darkness and calms my sadness.

Now I’m living in the light, serving you and letting you be my guide. I stand strong to let this world know, I’m here to shine in your grace.

Let me be the example to many other lost souls. Oh Lord I would be lost without you.

Even when this world make them feel all alone and not worthy in your presence. You are here to shine on them. To be their guide.

Oh Lord I would be lost without you, you are the compass of my life and my eternal salvation.
You are the compass of my life and my eternal salvation.
My compass, my light, my life and my eternal salvation is you Lord.

Be the Light, Poetry by Yusef Vance

Be the light in a world that is full of darkness
Be the light of God shining deep inside of your heart
Be the light of tenderness and inspiration
Be the steady courage and motivation
Be the cornerstone

Genre: Inspiration, People

Be the Light by Yusef Vance
Be the light in a world that is full of darkness
Be the light of God shining deep inside of your heart
Be the light of tenderness and inspiration
Be the steady courage and motivation
Be the cornerstone
Be an example of why we are all heirs to the throne
Be the example that with God in your life you are never alone
Use the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide you
Be the fire that burns infinitely
Be the Zoe in this dying world
You were all destined for greatness way before any doctor delivered you into this world
Be the light to let everyone know that their dreams are not diminished
Be the light because we were all created “perfect in His image”
Be the living proof that God’s work is far from being finished!

Ocean’s Bottom, Poetry by Antonia Giordano

I see a girl standing there lonely and wonderful

standing on the edge of vast space

No one coming to save or tell her to stop

She never called for that kind of attention

One deep breathe of hesitation betrays her fear

One deep breathe of hesitation betrays her fear

but she stands there and  as she jumps,

she cant’ see where she lands

“He And She”….. by Chirayu

A mighty voices raises for the time
Life started with the name of he
And Ended with Rhythms of She,
Finding he in a crowdy beats
With Hope Of Running soul hearted of She.

Walking in a path to find a shadow of he
But life plays an role to meet a new love as She
Saw Her first time met her first time
As She was the shadow before of mine
But a time left a voice of mine as
A beautiful Wanderer of Rover life….
I flight away by Lonely and silently mourning
On burning fire soul of mine.
She blooms and glows and shines,
And stares silently as the dry leaf of bright plant…
It smells and weep and tremble
Before love and the pain to find
it out Until the Next time again..
With the new name of Life & new time with the name of he
And will End the Rhythms of She…….

Don’t… by Eirini Spyridoula Antoniou

Don’t let regrets or second thoughts

move you through life.

Don’t let small fears guide your every step.

Don’t let small people tamper with your thoughts and feelings.

Don’t be afraid to live a positive life.

Don’t be afraid to live a different life.

Don’t be afraid when other people point

their figure at you and say

“look that someone is doing something different”.

Don’t be afraid to fully love another person.

Don’t be afraid to talk with yourself.

Don’t be afraid to have a happy ending in your life.

Don’t be afraid to be weird.

Don’t dance the dance of an ordinary life.

Poetry

Do you embrace the place
where the trees grow untamed?

They seem to know
what we want to hide;
the simple oneness that exists
between you and I.

A Mention of Minchin, Poetry by Allison Welborn

A Mention of Minchin
By Allison Welborn

There will always be a percentage
Of people who don’t agree with your message.
Some will love you and follow your profession;
They will chant “Tim is God,” and you’ll be their obsession.
Some will adore “White Wine in the Sun,” and agree with “The Fence,”
But will completely reject your religious stance.
And some will hate you and will never give you a chance.
Some will get out of their seat and on the toes of their feet
When I say, “What do you think of Minchin? Here, I’ll give you a beat.”

“He’s loud and obnoxious.
He’s rude and rambunctious.
He will never make it as a comedian.
He’s overly sarcastic and rudely bombastic.
He’s offensive and aggressive.
He will always be a fool, scum, a godless bohemian.
He’s racist and tasteless.
He’s ignorant and arrogant.
I’m sure he’s heard it all, that fumigant.
How dare he use the word nigger?
Whatever happened to tar and feather?
It’s shit on a page!
Get off the stage!”

To them I would say,
“Here are a few questions if I may,
Did he offend you? Are you mad?!
Did he come a little too close to home for you, lad?
If you’ve answered yes, it was probably rightly due;
Maybe you should change your hue, or get a clue.
If you heard the words that were applied,
You’d know that he was on the right side.”

They would see what they were missin’,
If they would just give it a listen.
Your music is the Xanax to my anxiety;
When I’m down, your lyrics pick me back up entirely.
Every time I wake, something emerges in my gourd.
Why, it’s you; whether it’s a line, a verse, or a chord.
Surely I haven’t been misconceived,
For this is what I have perceived . . .

“He’s articulate and accurate.
He’s crude but shampooed.
He will be a hit or miss for the religious clans.
He’s clever and a scholar.
He’s relatable and inspirational.
He will be a fucking legend to his biggest fans.
He’s considerate and elaborate.
He’s honest but modest.
He has changed some of my views, for that I am fondest.
He’s one of a kind, a true performer!
He give me chills, even if it’s summer!
Like cheddar, he only gets better with age.
For Tim Minchin will never be caged!”

They fall back in their seat, in what seems like defeat.
“I’ll give him another go, maybe there’s more to Tim than I know.”
If I’ve done my part, perhaps they’ll have a change of heart.
I may have created a brand new fixation,
All due to a mention of Minchin.
