RIVER’S LIFE
by MATJAZ TRCEK

Peace through one,
peace through all,
I, carrier of flow to seed the banks,
to bring death and birth,
through cycle never ending.

Of underground caves of ever night life I am,
Flow of me that makes the springs,
takes the life from me to you.

Sadness is strong and happiness too,
for your’s will be short,
but mine will never end,
for your’s will be painful,
but mine forever content.

I nurse you till you join the soil,
coming back to me to explore the world.

Flow with me child,
feel all there is, was and will be,
for I am all.

Hunger, Poetry by Sandra Jeffs

Hunger
by Sandra Jeffs

I grew up hungry, so damn hungry.

It wasn’t just hunger for food, although that was scarce.

It was hunger for knowing and feeling, and seeing and doing.

I was greedy to drink in everything,

to know how to fly, how to skim on water.

I saw everyone as wiser than me

and I sat at their feet and I listened and I learned.

I devoured books and poems and movies and music.

Songs filled me with dance and joy and love and freedom.

College challenged me and pushed me and exhausted me.

Travel opened my heart and wrote novels in my mind.

I discussed theories and possibilities and metaphysics.

I vehemently argued my points and many times I learned I was wrong,

But I grew. Yes, I grew every day, with every mistake and every success.

And I did it without much help nor any handouts

I worked. I worked hard for a paycheck,

worked hard for knowledge, for experience,

for skills and talents and I overcame so damn much.

So damn much!

Then, as I aged into my sixties,

I found I had passed so many people by,

I had never stopped for one single second

to think that I might grow past all the people I loved,

might learn myself out of friendships, and lovers;

might get myself to a place where other people don’t see what I see

and don’t want to see it, don’t want to know who they are,

nor why they are on this planet, don’t want to wake up.

They just want to get through life

and I no longer can even pretend to settle for so little.

The truth is– from the beginning. I never could settle for less

than knowing all that I could  just for the sake of knowing.

It’s just that I always thought everyone else wanted that, too.

I thought they were on this journey with me

and it feels lonely now that they stayed safe from the hunger,

It feels like a death has occurred to have gained so much

and to have so few people to share it with.

I see their best selves and wish they did too,

but they resent me those insights.

I am surprised at how wise I’ve seemed to become

because I never sought to be wiser than others,

I never thought my hunger would take me this far.

I feel shy to find I am wiser than those I once thought my mentors

or at least my peers.  I’d like to rail at the apathy and the fear,

that keeps people from being hungry.

Hunger is good.

Once we satisfy it, we are nourished and grow,

and then the hunger reappears and we continue seeking,

growing, learning, evolving.

Isn’t that our purpose in life?

9 verses Love
by Karoline Lehner

468 moons and 39 winters
I wandered the earth alone.

As a little girl I dreamed to be
a circus princess on a flying horse.

In every frog I saw a prince
whose spell I break with my kiss.

In vain I waited for the noble knight
to appear and save me from the world.

When I realized, there is no knight
and all my dragons I fight alone.

I learned to save myself and I swallowed my tears.
My body was strong and I mastered the sword.

I saw ugliness and I treasured beauty.
My laughter was bright and I kept silent in darkness.

I screamed and I whispered,
my prayer was humble and my cursing was wild.

468 moons and 39 winters
I prepared to love you.

HANK
by Karmen Skaro

Thousands of threads make up a hank of wishes and desire

In my stomach with whom you play.

One touch and threads disappear.

Instead, an eruption of most glorious rainbow colors appears.

The colors spread through the inland of a country you claimed to be yours,

Through the vastness of the sea you conquered.

Still the soul longing in thirst is waiting,

Waiting on a lonely shore waiting for the next upcoming wave.

Playful fingers

Loving eyes

Progressive rhythm

Dissipated thoughts

One hank untangled

My Escape, A Poem by Amy Miller

MY ESCAPE
by Amy Miller

In this wild-scape
Trapped by my fear
My heart heaves
A sigh of damp air

Bring me to the surface
Let me see the light
Otherwise I’ll be caught down here
In my own fight

What do you see
Across the sea
A land of salvation
why can’t it be me

Hear my name
See thy face
Hidden beneath
my own disgrace

Bring me to the surface
Let me see the light
Otherwise I’ll be caught down here
In my own fight

Beauty is deep
Caught up in the folds
Trying to escape
The traps and the cold

What is the answer
A knowing to unfold
To gather me up
And embrace me like gold

A heart that cracks open
And pain to wring out
A wish to come back
And see myself whole

Bring me to the surface
Let me see the light
Otherwise I’ll be caught down here
In my own fight

And I Pray, Poetry by Marc Libidinsky

Be exalted, Lord our God, and
Cleanse Your vine with Grace;
Delight in mercy, give us Truth,
Even the righteous words of Faith.

Genre: Spiritual, Religion

  And I Pray (Acrostic)
by Marc Libidinsky

Be exalted, Lord our God, and
Cleanse Your vine with Grace;
Delight in mercy, give us Truth,
Even the righteous words of Faith.

Favor us and hear our prayers.
Give to us Your Kingdom’s peace;
Honor and glory belong to You
In this life, and so we plead,

“Jesus fill our hearts with Love –
Kindness from our God;
Lifting us in due season,
Make us righteous by Your blood!”

Nothing greater than Your power
Or Your Name can lift us up!

Power and might belong to Jesus.
Quench not His Spirit with false ways.
Return with hunger to your first love –
Sanctify Jesus in your days.

Tell of all His wondrous works, and
Unite your hearts in simple praise!

We cry to You, our holy Savior,
Xalted, You are lifted up;
Your name is Hope and we declare it –

Zealous love will fill our cup!

When I was 12 years old I wrote my first poem “Through the field the beautiful walks,on the sky swallow fly”…for the literary magazine “Spark”in my primary school in Kumanovo ,Macedonia. That was my first try to write a poem and maybe the hardest in my whole life ,that was the smallest and simplest poem of all those beautiful poems written for the patronage of our school”Miladinovci Brothers” and complex essays skillfully written by children from 11 to 14 years of age.

I was delighted of the poems and essays from the children at that time and dreamed all the time to be like them,to write better and one day to be the best in my town.My dreams comes trues and I live my dreams now and compete in the world because I believed in my impossible dream to this day one day to become world’s poets.

Do you have a favorite poet?

My favorite poet is Emily Dickinson one of the best american poets which poems are very touching and beautiful.

What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry performed by a professional actor?

Assignations of the Heart – Poetry Reading by Fayton Hollington. Performed by Danielle Nicole

People should respond honestly, which in my book is that initial gut reaction to something heard, done, or witnessed. That is their true discernment speaking. We tend to push that little voice aside, and find ourselves saying, If only I would have listened to my instinct. That is our inner voice, discernment if you will; leading us away from erroneous decision…. Allow their gut, to speak their truth.

Watch ASSIGNATIONS OF THE HEART:

What is the theme of your poem?

Pensive love provoking the heart, while boggling the mind.

How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?

People should respond honestly, which in my book is that initial gut reaction to something heard, done, or witnessed. That is their true discernment speaking. We tend to push that little voice aside, and find ourselves saying, If only I would have listened to my instinct. That is our inner voice, discernment if you will; leading us away from erroneous decision…. Allow their gut, to speak their truth.

How long have you been writing poetry?

I’ve been writing poetry for twenty years. I have never actively sat down to write poetry. I was either inspired by something I witnessed, or heard. Most of my poetry comes to me in a dream.

Do you have a favorite poet?

Maya Angelou and Langston Huges, are the two who has most intrigued me. After a spoken word performance, an audience member, told me I was the male version of Mya Angelou. Quite the compliment.

What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry performed by a professional actor?

Becoming a winning novelist of WILDsound writing competition, I was waiting for our paths to cross, and us being able to sync up at the right time. Being self-published, I put myself on deadlines, and stick to them. I had just completed the final tweak of my next release, when this came across my email. The timing was right.

Do you write other works? Scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?

My literary accomplishment includes all genres, self -taught in all. Award winning Actor / Novelist / Poet. Three completed novels, using rough draft screenplays as templates, two sitcom pilots, and a host of poetry; round out my literary accomplishments to date.

As a novelist, I challenge myself by writing within a box. What tighter box is there than the screenplay format. Yes, for me; the working template of a all my novels, begin with a solidified screenplay. This makes the novel a breeze to construct, and fun to watch, as the characters, locations, and subtextual nuances in a screenplay, come to literal life in the novel. This is my process, and I have never experienced writer’s block. Before the first words are placed on a page, the outline has to be thoroughly flushed out in my mind.

What is your passion in life?

My passion is to enlighten, unearth, and serve up reality, unfettered to society. As an artist; one on a mission, this is coming to fruition.

__________

Screenplay for my novel “Conception of A Dialysis Patient (the untold truths)” now completed in Los Angeles.
