Flowers bloom in winter
by Cathrina Oshinowo

Flowers bloom in Winter, spring, Summer and Autumn too.

They bloom and spring forth for me you. Flowers show me ĺove In boom and tell me not to cry.

Flowers speak to my heart and tell my dreams never to die..

The flowers I hold dear cause my to flame to grow inside.

They mirror my beauty from beginning to end; never fading peptualy being my little friends.

Brighton Clock Tower, Redecorated
by Anna Tizard

I covered the clock tower with clocks and clicking watches
I did it for her.

Her mind is not unkind but she lives in space-place
outside of time.
It means she’s always late
which for we who wait is obviously
not great.

She’s embarrassed for other things, ties her shawls up in pins
for giving the “wrong” excuses,
but really it’s in her lies where lies
the abuses.

So I gather all her friends around the clock tower’s stuck up finger
which I’ve already covered in putty, perfectly nutty
– it actually is, with a spade-load of peanut butter added
to make it extra
sticky-padded.

And as the sun drops low ’til it skims the horizon
the coating glints, really slick
and there’s a rubber thump-punch as over-arm
and under-arm and doggy-ball-throwers flick
the catapulted watches…

Once-Nothing, Poetry by Adam White

Genre: Philosophical, Dark, Controversial

Once-Nothing
by Adam White

Carved out of nothing,
a thing with no tongue
is ripped out of absence,
sealed in a cell.
Hell may now enter:
pain once was less
than a thought never dreamt.
But a day will soon come
when it’s all that can even
be thought to be felt.

From the moment the sperm
burrows into the egg,
and the wasted white fluid
begins to run down mom’s leg,
the fate of the once-nothing
is in others’ hands:
the choice is the woman’s
or the choice is the Lord’s.
The wishes of
the once-nothing,
if it wishes at all,
don’t matter:

the once-nothing’s wishes
cannot be known,
and the once-nothing
makes no demands.

The once-nothing,
mutilated in ineffable ways,
mutated in the most radical,
inconceivable way,
manipulated,
forced, flung,
captured, caged
in a body never asked for,
against which
it had no body…

Your Eyes, Poetry by Agata Pujsza

I like your eyes
looking at my eyes
mutual connection
of secrets from far
inexplicable
real
full of love..

Genre: Love, Relationship, Romance

Your Eyes
by Agata Pujsza

I like your eyes
looking at my eyes
mutual connection
of secrets from far
inexplicable
real
full of love..

I like your eyes
touching my eyes
this warm hug
deep
and gentle
full of sighs
as when we met first time..

I like your eyes
talking to my eyes
this warm voice of reassurance
that makes me feel
we are
from galaxy
of our own universe..

I like your eyes
dancing with my eyes
in these moments of silence
when we sit
by the table
unfettered
sharing voiceless stories from earlier..

I like your eyes..

Dream Ahead, Poetry by Chris Biscuiti

I will not let them look at you sadly
and I know how you want it so badly
to look at the stars and grab with your hands
to do little boy things your mind commands

Genre: Family, Rhyme, Sadness

Dream Ahead
by Chris Biscuiti

I will not let them look at you sadly
and I know how you want it so badly
to look at the stars and grab with your hands
to do little boy things your mind commands

You will get there son, I can see your will
you’ll ride rollercoasters just for the thrill
we will chant and scream for the New York Mets
when they break our hearts we’ll have no regrets

Today grandpa held you close on the couch
and grandma fed you another fruit pouch
she calls you her peach as you beg for more
mommy lights up as she comes through the door

I read you Goodnight Moon just before bed
as you doze off tonight I dream ahead

About the Poem:

My son Brayden was diagnosed with a rare seizure condition known as Infantile Spasms. He has since been treated and has been seizure free since he was 6 months old.

He is about to be 1 year-old on November 5th, and while he is severely developmentally delayed, we are just so blessed and so lucky to have a happy baby boy.

I wrote this poem about my dreams for Brayden, hopefully in some way this poem could shed some light onto an under-researched, unknown condition that is very serious and can really use the support and awareness that other conditions have.

Rapscallion
by Shelby Schimcek

You’re the rapscallion of devious games
Paralyzing my body
Controlling my mind
Manipulating my trust
With your alluring string of lies
Your carnivorous appetite
Devours my thoughts
Lurking behind a devilish smile
Attacking at my weakest
Limp and lifeless
You leave me dangling
At your finger tips
Waiting to strike a match
That fuels the flame between us
With a breath
You darken the glow
Showering me with venomous kisses
My still beating poisoned heart
Crashes into darkened depths
Of lost hope
Kindling me with false love
An ounce of warmth
enlightens my rebirthing heart
Prone to your touch
I’m only fooled once more
