Get to know the poet:
What is the theme of your poem?
The theme of this poem is the past and the many ways it can creep back up on us, mainly when we least expect it. It portrays the past as many things (a lost friend, an old lover), but each make it difficult for the speaker of the poem to move on and let go, and they continue to struggle until the speaker finally realizes the the past is something that cannot be changed, and while it will always be there, no matter how smothering it may be.
What motivated you to write this poem?
The motivation for writing this stems from the need to go back to old, toxic habits and expecting them to have changed. To keep trapping yourself in a time or place or person that is not good for you, until the day you realize that you had drowned trying to make it suit your needs. Particularly, I had an old flame in mind writing this, and he was never any good for me, but I had thought time would have changed him, though I was proven wrong.
How long have you been writing poetry?
I have been writing poetry since I was about 13, though it was much simpler and straightforward.
If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would that be?
If I could dinner with one person it would be Dante Alighieri, if only to know what made Beatrice so special.
What influenced you to submit to have your poetry performed by a professional actor?
I am interested to see how others view the words I write, and how many different meanings, thoughts and images can be provoked by a connection of words and phrases.
Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?
I mostly write poetry, but I do write short stories, flash fiction and creative non – fiction.
What is your passion in life?
My passion in life is to one day be able to touch a person’s life through the words I write and to be able to better understand human nature and its complexities.

What is the theme of your poem?
The theme is media propaganda and prejudice.
What motivated you to write this poem?
We live in dark times. I was sitting in my dentist’s waiting room and this obnoxious TV person was spewing vindictive political attacks as news. People were sitting there watching and listening as if this person’s biased opinions were somehow important. I found it absurd that anyone would take this guy seriously and wrote the poem.
How long have you been writing poetry?
I have been writing poetry for 52 years.
If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would that be?
If it was in the near future I’d have dinner with Donald Trump because I want to help him succeed. I have many valuable ideas.

One more year, one more day,
I wish I had one more chance to tell her the things I couldn’t say.
All the memories, all the laughs,
Now your life is remembered with photographs.
Only the good die young but he took you too soon,
I want one more night of us talking under the moon.
I know you’re in a better place,
I just wish it wasn’t this way.

Oh, A Nation of Assault
Whilst we’re all in default
Reminiscent of former cataclysm
Government locked the vault
how much longer shall we wait
as the grey haired fools debate
Listening to the tale of jobs they will avail
A generation of innovation is at hand
will they listen
So prosperity can expand
the families suffer
with little buffer
When healthcare is in despair
and college loans unfair
Senior citizens living on a prayer
Its hard to be aware
Do you Dare?
Do you Dare?
Corporate Greed is how they feed
starts as a seed, becomes a need
Dictate Dictate Dictate
Then they turn the table and
give the activist a label
They wont be happy till they are done
When no one can afford to have fun
There’s a lot pain
When your at the bottom of the food chain
In the richest nation in the world!

The hooker’s green ivy creeps underground
With Friday revelations,
Stripping carpet moss from oak braille.
On sub-auburn pathways.
Stealth horse chestnuts lie in wait
for dimpled future homewreckers,
stripling shapeshifters,
who slowly learn not to jump for joy.
You think of forest fires, a cleansing autumn pyre
for your imprinted saffron monk.
The hebeloma puberty fringe asks loaded questions
For which each generation must fall.
And now you seek the magpie’s mate,
chasing something black and white
through dog violet, bog orchid,
butterwort and ball moss –
the florid expletives
crushed underfoot
as the wind changes.
