Tooth and Nail, Poetry by Dudley Clarence Sturgis IV

I’ve been hunted since I was a child
But I can’t take a rest
Sick of everyone’s offered pity
Don’t they know I’m blessed?

Tooth and Nail by Dudley Clarence Sturgis IV

I’ve been hunted since I was a child
But I can’t take a rest
Sick of everyone’s offered pity
Don’t they know I’m blessed?

I’ve broken every bone in my body
And I’ve scraped my nails to the bone
Climbing up this mountain of death
That I will soon forge into a throne

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
Yes, I will be taking what is mine
I’ve the soul of Joan of Arc and Cleopatra’s heart
If I’m to die, then I will die enshrined

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
No, I will not wait any longer
I’ve fought my way; it was child’s play
For royalty to face a warmonger

I’ve been outcast since I was a child
But I can’t take a breath
Sick of your sentimental shit
Just watch me murder death

They’ve broken my heart a thousand times
And I’ve scattered the shards to the winds
Climbing up this mountain of ice
That was forged from my own sins

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
Yes, I’ will be making them my own
I’ve the soul of Joan of Arc and Cleopatra’s heart
If I’m to die, I’ll die on my throne

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
No, I will not wait any longer
I’ve fought all my life; all I know is strife
But I’ll never be your warmonger

My father once told me
When I was all alone
To never let another man
Sit upon my throne
I remember my father told me
In the days before he died
That I will have to put in the work
In order to create my own light

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
Yes, I’ll be taking what is mine
I’ve the soul of Joan of Arc and Cleopatra’s heart
If I’m to die, then I will die enshrined

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
Yes, I’ll be making them my own
I’ve the soul of Joan of Arc and Cleopatra’s heart
If I’m to die, I’ll die on my throne

In Our Hearts You Fill, Poetry by Lisa Reynolds

Rich tears in my eyes,
The reality has not set in,
All those family ties,
The death of my closest kin.
I want to imagine the coffin isn’t real,
Then this pain I won’t have to feel.
In time this pain apparently will heal.

Rich tears in my eyes,
The reality has not set in,
All those family ties,
The death of my closest kin.
I want to imagine the coffin isn’t real,
Then this pain I won’t have to feel.
In time this pain apparently will heal.
But Father you’ll never see so much,
Me marry or cohabitate,
Me become a parent,
Me try to achieve my dreams.
But I cherish what we had,
18 years of joy.
And I know somewhere
You can see all you can’t be there for.
I learned to be a better person from you,
I learned that to be good to people was to be true,
I still remember our family trip to Dublin Zoo
And I know together or apart our family is like glue.
My Mother, my sister and I mourn you still
As we continue on life’s running mill
And in our hearts you fill.

Going the distance ~, by Demarcus Parks

This path , I traveled, With every breath that I have taken,
I walked , with every ounce of my strength , With the weight of those I loved on my shoulders ,
I have sacrificed for those who haven’t given , and gave , to those who have taken,
A breath of fresh air,  as I am Going the distance.

In the face of Adversity , looking straight into the eyes of pain itself, I fold in defeat ,
unfold barely weak , To the light of a new day,
As my eyes shut , for a peaceful rest , I leave behind no regrets , We are we , and we are love ,
As he who was , will forever be , Going the distance.

Things Left Unsaid, Poetry by Kaushik Roy

You know I’ve crossed mountains just to be right by your side.
Walked a hundred miles just to see your lovely smile
Baby, you may walk away
But honey, I’ll follow you to the ends of the world

Things Left Unsaid by Kaushik Roy

You know I’ve crossed mountains just to be right by your side.
Walked a hundred miles just to see your lovely smile
Baby, you may walk away
But honey, I’ll follow you to the ends of the world

I want to kiss away the demons that haunt your dreams
I want to purify your silent empty thoughts
I want to let the world know
You’re more than what they see
You’re the glowing fields at night
Under a starry sky

God knows, he knows I love you so
Your eyes, they electrify my life
And your smile it makes me come alive
Hold me, save my wandering soul
Teach me, what it means to have the one

I want to recognise the beauty that’s in your heart
You are the flowing stream from my temple of thought

LAWS OF KINDNESS ARE ALL BEHIND THIS…BEFORE THE EVIL MATCH LIT ITS
NUGATORY FIRE, HE ALREADY CAST AWAY EVIL DESIRES OF WICKEDNESS AS
YOUR NUMBER ONE DISMISSED HIT; BOILING OVER IN YOUR BLOODLINE; STUCK
IN A THICK BATTERED CRUST OF YUMMY LOVE NUGGETS TO KILL DARKNESS
TRYING TO REFILL ITSELF INTO THE BREW OF YOUR MORNING BLISS, AS GOD
KISSES YOU UP. HIS LOVE NEVER FAILED YOU…YOU’RE SURROUNDED BY HIS
TRUTH; SMOTHERED IN HIS COVERS! HIS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE IS ON THE SIDE
AS YOUR SPIRITUAL GUIDE TO FLOW IN…PLENTY-MANY EPISODES LEFT
UNTOLD BY YOU WHEN YOU WERE DROWNING IN A FOISON OF UNTRUTHS, LIKE
A FOOL; HIS LOVE DID NOT HESITATE TO MAKE A WAY OF ESCAPE FOR YOU.

A DIVINE DELIGHT OF HIS REIGN KEEPING YOU SANE DESPITE ALL THE THINGS
YOU’VE BEEN THROUGH… CONFESSIONS OF INTERNATIONAL BLESSINGS OF NO
SHAME; WHY BOTHER WITH HEART TROUBLE AND HEART PROBLEMS…KISS
AND LICK YOUR FAITH WITH HIS LOVING GRACE TO RUN THE RACE PRESET FOR
YOU TO TRIUMPH, IN; ATTACKED IN THE BEST SIDE-TRACK OF THE EFFECTUAL
PRAYERS OF INTERCESSORS WHO PRAY NIGHT AND DAY FOR YOUR
SAFETY…TEACHING YOU HOW TO ALWAYS WIN; PUSHING YOU IN THE
KNOWLEDGE TO TURN ENEMIES INTO FRIENDS…KNOCKED UP IN LOVE!
INFECTED DAILY IN A PRAYER COMA, INSTIGATED BY YOUR HUSBAND/YOUR
WIFE TO KEEP YOU IN A SECURE COVENANT ENGRAVED AND PRESERVED IN THE
PROVENANCE OF A SANCTI-FLY LIFE.

HEAVEN AND EARTH SHALL PASS AWAY. YOU’RE WALKING IN TRUTH! NO MORE
CHAINS; A DIVINE DECREE OF BELIEF TO WALK IN THE WAY OF NO DEFEAT. YOU
HUFF AND PUFF ADDICTED TO BEING TOUGH; ACTING LIKE YOU’RE SO
HARD…AS YOUR GRANDPARENT’S LOVE AND PRAYERS CRIED OUT TO THE ONE
AND ONLY TRUE LIVING GOD, ON YOUR BEHALF; YOU MADE IT ON
THROUGH…DIDN’T YOU! YOU’RE SURROUNDED BY LOVE IN YOUR FACE AND
BEHIND YOUR BACK!

MAY YOU BE RUN OVER WITH FORGIVENESS AND TOLERANCE; DROWNING IN
COMPASSION AND RESPECT; KEEPING YOU AT RISK TO BE SURROUNDED BY
LOVE! YOU ARE SURROUNDED BY A LOVE THAT TOUCHES YOU AT ALL
TIMES…HE WILL NOT TAKE HIS HANDS OFF YOU. HIS LOVE-STAINS ARE ALL
AROUND; DRIPPING ON YOUR HEART RIGHT FROM THE VERY START; OILING
YOUR JOINTS TO POINT YOU TO HIS LOVE!

Michael, Poetry by Darlene Laboy

I like to watch
This one kid in class
His grandmother’s black
His grandfather’s white
And I love to see his skin.
His past.

Genre: Friendship. Biracial. Love.

Michael by Darlene Laboy

I like to watch
This one kid in class
His grandmother’s black
His grandfather’s white
And I love to see his skin.
His past.
Fighting for dominance
On the edges.
Like three hundred years
Was not enough.
Like billions of lives
And years of racism
Doesn’t affect
The universe of his skin follicles
I see the fight in his skin
Clearer than I see all the dark faces
Behind all the gray cells
I want to beg his pigmentation:
Don’t give up
We’ve won this war once.
I don’t think he knows
His importance.
I’m hoping this will find him.
He gives my sunembraced
skin
Hope.
His skinDancing
birds under the summer sun
Makes me feel
Accomplished
Milk chocolate
In bleached sugar
Never have I
Seen something so savory.
To have this constant war
Under your clothes
Constant explosions
Over your heart
Must be binding.
This war,
Centuries old,
And yet still being fought.
How do you feel
When you wake up to
Gun smoke
Under the brims
Of your eyes?
Have you ever noticed
All of the fallen soldiers
Dotted across your face?
I hope he remembers
The sweetness
Of the bleached sugar
Instead of holding on
To the bitterness
Of the milk chocolate
Your follicles no longer fight
To destroy
They fight
To fuse…
Your skin fights for this world,
Don’t let it down
By picking sides.

Grandfathers Love, Poetry by Sherille Williams

Who do u you call when your heart is broken. Where does love begin to form. Is it through a simple touch? My grandpa said “it’s in the hands my grandchild that holds us together.”

Grandfathers Love

Who do u you call when your heart is broken. Where does love begin to form. Is it through a simple touch? My grandpa said “it’s in the hands my grandchild that holds us together.”

We must not cherish the most costly items and we must not bury the future. True love lasted through my grandpa’s hands. He knew what it took to love his best friend; his lady and put God first when there are failed moments. He knew that keeping his wife with God as his robe kept them alive; but today is the day we mourn having lost him, and rejoice at the fact he was reunited with his long lost love.

My heart ached when he asked me “should he too go” when my grandmother left. Are materials and unforgivable arguments worth losing your right hand? My grandpa held her right hand whenever they traversed the Coney Island boardwalk. Bought her a hot dog to share and spare his last twenty five cents to keep her happy.

He always confided in The Good Book most deny. However he always reminds me a man isn’t a man until he’s met with God. Forgiving is rejecting all feelings of your own not because the persons right, but because he too has forgiving you. During this time, I’m starting to find my grandfather held all the keys to my grandma’s heart. Love God first, your spouse second and everything else will fall in its place.

What I’m trying to say is our generation no longer knows what love is. It’s not the status on social media, nor is it lusting after someone new – it’s through our hands. These life lines carry our tears and secrets but when held with someone, really anyone that you love, we can all agree we’ve experienced my grandpa’s kind of love he spoke of.

Rest in peace Grandpa I love you

Sherille Williams

Evils Deception by Barbara Hunt

Shadows fooling all trying to help the situation hid as a facade of stability and love as no one suspected the plot that was forming

Whispers in the night became louder as her lies and deception grew

Darkness soon surrounded all involved as they became engulfed slowly losing pieces of there soul in the warm silence

Her tendrils erupted as the air thinned and a deafening cry was heard as anger and realization reared there heads ready to end all plots

Betrayal stung as bile grew in there throats as there hatred almost as black as the tendrils consumed them freezing the warmth of there blood

No one knew what would happen so as they took a shallow breathe they looked into the face of evil and smiled ready for the fight to the death

Pieces Of You
by Hansteven Selfa

I find pieces of you in distorted cosmic dusts
In falling stars, I see your name so bright
You are the street signs, whenever I am lost
When you’re here, everything feels so right.

I figure you in a notional painting
Discover you between the pages of my book
In a quandary, you are the silver lining
I find pieces of you wherever I look.

You are the star I vision in the sky
And you’re also the yellow in the rainbow I see
You are the eagle I find up high
You are everywhere I’ll be.
