Genius Goddess by S Michaelis

Something’s on my mind
It’s a song from long ago
Just a simple little ditty
That I wrote while in the city
And this is how it goes

Something’s in my eyes
If you look close you can see it
There’s a little bit of Venus
And a little bit of genius
And it’s time for me to free it.

A little goes a long way
And a long way isn’t far
When you’re rockin’ while you’re walking
And you’re jammin’’ to the tune of an electric guitar.

A little goes a long way
And a long way isn’t far
When you’re rockin’ while you’re walking
And you’re jammin’’ to the tune of an electric guitar.

Something’s in my eyes
If you look close you can see it
There’s a little bit of Hera
And the power is right there
And it’s time for me to free it.

A little goes a long way
And a long way isn’t far
When you’re rockin’ while you’re walking
And you’re jammin’’ to the tune of an electric guitar.

A little goes a long way
And a long way isn’t far
When you’re rockin’ while you’re walking
And you’re jammin’’ to the tune of an electric guitar.

Dude was Rich?, Poetry by Anthony Nneke

Dude was rich
How was life a b**ch

We can trade places
But this is real life

Dude was Rich? by Anthony Nneke

Dude was rich
How was life a b**ch
They thought
When they heard his onslaught
Cos they were mis taught
That wealth means only money
He laughed hard
Cos he found that funny
We can trade places
But this is real life
No friends in unfamiliar places
Peace be his oasis
But he don’t know what that feels like
Cos all he got is pressure of expectation
Waiting to exhale
His relationship has failed
His hearts locked up
like it went jail
cos it was sentenced for breaking hearts
flirting with tarts
that look sweet
but their ingredients are foul
their make up covers up their crooked smile
but in the meanwhile
he trying to justify
why he has struggles
to those
who can’t imagine what
its like to be him
2 | P a g e
they cant accept him as one of them
cos he up on a pedestal
that they put him on
so he cant complain
take the gold, take the platinum chains, show a bit of brains, screw the chicken brains
play your part, stay in your lane
man just shut up and play the game
what the hell you know about shame
man you don’t get to talk about pain
look at what you’ve gained
this is what the dude was up against
so he spent
time breaking it down
talking about his double life in one timeline
there was a time when all he wanted to do was shine
be the best do his best, give his best
when he aspired to be rich, and known
so he understand how far he grown
reaping what he sown
but what he saying is he now feel all alone
cos he cant tell a friend from a foe
a lady from a hoe
when he had little he had real friends
who like him for him
they told him he had potential
helped him believe
go get it and achieve
now fast forward
he surrounded by people he don’t know
cant take a break
so many shows
3 | P a g e
he just a piece of gold
selling the dream he was sold
moving fast and he just wanna pause
and slow
do you understand if so
can I get an Oh
Oh
Verse Two
Time to put his mask on
Put on a show for the world
But what he mean is just saying hello
Being cool, being nice
Cos he feeling cold like the north pole
And he about to break like ice
But if he speak out about it
The response is
Man
How can he be unhappy
When he got more money than he can count
Girls at his feet
Worshipped by the streets
Man he mean on a beat
So he feel trapped
Like mother nature gave him a bitch slap
Perhaps is that what he deserves
For all the shit he been talking
Or that’s another song
Ok write another wrong
4 | P a g e
Man he just trying to be
Not conscious, not righteous
Not an idol
He himself just a man
Trying a ting
To do better for himself and his family
Don’t begrudge him that

Lioness, Poetry by Saturn Sunset

Lioness by Saturn Sunset
You are a novelty.
A mend in a broken bridge.
You are a tale of trial.
the freight train come unhinged.
You are the candle in the wind
the one they long to snuff.
You are the deck shuffled and new
no one calls your bluff.
You are the sun and the heat it brings
the silhouette above the trees.
You are the gold hidden in the sea
you are the moon and the stars on galaxy string.
You are the breeze
a longtime cherished philosophy amidst the brambles.
You are the Jack of all trades
through the runes your existence will forever ramble.
Your eyes are cosmic spheres
it is a wonder how you are here
and your wings are still translucent
when they see your power, you’ll have to prove it.
You have the clouds in your hands
feather for the next big cross.
You have the scripture in your flesh
guiding the ages lost.
Walk on water
spine the towers on their axis’
like no other
for no simple good-man praises.
You are the window
to the world we wished to know.
You are the only act
the prelude, main, and epilogue in the grandest show.

Journey of Spirit, Poetry by Tara Payne Steele

I journeyed to a land far across the sea,
where people were dying in front of me.
Their country was torn, they had no hope,
brother killing brother, how would they cope?
I whispered a prayer in everyone’s ear,
Understanding’s the answer, conquering fear.

Journey of Spirit by Tara Payne Steele

I dreamed a dream one starry night,
that my spirit was free to soar and take flight.

I journeyed to a land far across the sea,
where people were dying in front of me.
Their country was torn, they had no hope,
brother killing brother, how would they cope?
I whispered a prayer in everyone’s ear,
Understanding’s the answer, conquering fear.

My journey continued to another land,
where sweet babies were crying in the sand.
The children were starving, they had no hope,
without food and water, how would they cope?
I whispered a prayer in everyone’s ear,
Compassion’s the answer, conquering fear.

I journeyed to yet another place,
where souls cried out at an alarming pace.
Their hearts were broken, they had no hope,
devoid of purpose, how would they cope?
I whispered a prayer in everyone’s ear,
Faith’s the answer, conquering fear.

I journeyed home to finally rest,
spiritual satisfaction ended my quest.
The people were happy, they had new hope,
Love’s the answer, that’s how they would cope.
A peaceful world was finally at hand,
my dream for every child,
woman,
and man.

IN SILENCE I BLEED, Poetry by Bob Valleau

Amidst the laughter, I’m in pain.
Where is God when I call His name?
Don’t be fooled by what I hide.

IN SILENCE I BLEED
By. Bob Valleau
© 2016

Amidst the laughter, I’m in pain.

Where is God when I call His name?

Don’t be fooled by what I hide.

I smile without though hurt inside.

Does anyone notice? Does anyone care?

How lonely I am when no one’s there.

I scream. I cry. I long to flee.

For something or someone to comfort me.

Darkness abounds,

In silence I bleed.

A sliver of hope,

Is all I need.

Tooth and Nail, Poetry by Dudley Clarence Sturgis IV

I’ve been hunted since I was a child
But I can’t take a rest
Sick of everyone’s offered pity
Don’t they know I’m blessed?

Genre: Rhyme, Fantasy, Determination

Tooth and Nail by Dudley Clarence Sturgis IV

I’ve been hunted since I was a child
But I can’t take a rest
Sick of everyone’s offered pity
Don’t they know I’m blessed?

I’ve broken every bone in my body
And I’ve scraped my nails to the bone
Climbing up this mountain of death
That I will soon forge into a throne

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
Yes, I will be taking what is mine
I’ve the soul of Joan of Arc and Cleopatra’s heart
If I’m to die, then I will die enshrined

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
No, I will not wait any longer
I’ve fought my way; it was child’s play
For royalty to face a warmonger

I’ve been outcast since I was a child
But I can’t take a breath
Sick of your sentimental shit
Just watch me murder death

They’ve broken my heart a thousand times
And I’ve scattered the shards to the winds
Climbing up this mountain of ice
That was forged from my own sins

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
Yes, I’ will be making them my own
I’ve the soul of Joan of Arc and Cleopatra’s heart
If I’m to die, I’ll die on my throne

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
No, I will not wait any longer
I’ve fought all my life; all I know is strife
But I’ll never be your warmonger

My father once told me
When I was all alone
To never let another man
Sit upon my throne
I remember my father told me
In the days before he died
That I will have to put in the work
In order to create my own light

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
Yes, I’ll be taking what is mine
I’ve the soul of Joan of Arc and Cleopatra’s heart
If I’m to die, then I will die enshrined

Give me the crown and the jewels to match
Yes, I’ll be making them my own
I’ve the soul of Joan of Arc and Cleopatra’s heart
If I’m to die, I’ll die on my throne

In Our Hearts You Fill, Poetry by Lisa Reynolds

Rich tears in my eyes,
The reality has not set in,
All those family ties,
The death of my closest kin.
I want to imagine the coffin isn’t real,
Then this pain I won’t have to feel.
In time this pain apparently will heal.

The reality has not set in,
All those family ties,
The death of my closest kin.
I want to imagine the coffin isn’t real,
Then this pain I won’t have to feel.
In time this pain apparently will heal.
But Father you’ll never see so much,
Me marry or cohabitate,
Me become a parent,
Me try to achieve my dreams.
But I cherish what we had,
18 years of joy.
And I know somewhere
You can see all you can’t be there for.
I learned to be a better person from you,
I learned that to be good to people was to be true,
I still remember our family trip to Dublin Zoo
And I know together or apart our family is like glue.
My Mother, my sister and I mourn you still
As we continue on life’s running mill
And in our hearts you fill.

Head sick for you, Poetry by Andrew James Leahy

All I want is you sweet honey

Head sick for you
by Andrew James Leahy

I’ve came a long way to love you
I’d go beyond just for us two
I’m in this with you forever
We will always be together

I’ve done all that I can in time
I’d lose my sense and piece of mind
I’m gone inside my broken brain
We can stop from being insane

All I want is you sweet honey
All you want is my love baby
All I can say and I can pray
Is for us to last a life time

Sick in the head, my point of view
I love you too, head sick for you

Our love drives us fucking crazy

Pieces Of You
by Hansteven Selfa

I find pieces of you in distorted cosmic dusts
In falling stars, I see your name so bright
You are the street signs, whenever I am lost
When you’re here, everything feels so right.

I figure you in a notional painting
Discover you between the pages of my book
In a quandary, you are the silver lining
I find pieces of you wherever I look.

You are the star I vision in the sky
And you’re also the yellow in the rainbow I see
You are the eagle I find up high
You are everywhere I’ll be.

THE GOSSIPING TREE, Poetry by Darren Finlinson

Genre: Family, Rhyme

Taken from Tales Of Hickety Plop. Children’s rhyme written by B.B. Sommers (twitter @TiddleyPump)

THE GOSSIPING TREE
by Darren Finlinson

Right in the centre of Hickety Plop,

Surrounded by every fantastical shop,

A magical wonder for all to see,

Is the one and only gossiping tree.

With bright gold leaves and age unknown,

The silver trunk in time has grown,

From all the tales it’s ever heard,

No matter how strange or even absurd.

With all the news it hears each day,

From all the folks who pass it’s way,

It often likes to talk and rant,

It surely is a nosey plant.

It likes to moan, it likes to tutt,

It never keeps it’s big mouth shut,

No matter who will walk it’s way,

It always has something to say.

When Mrs. Toodle once went by,

The tree had tried to catch her eye,

And laughed at her enormous hat,

And that her bottom was so fat.

Some people smiled at what it said,

Some people scolded it instead.

Now, maybe what it said was true,

But would you like it said to you?

No matter if it’s fake or real,

How does it make the others feel?

A bluebird flying overhead,

Was shocked at all the things it said,

it flew quite fast around the town,

And gathered every bird it found,

The giant flock began to fly,

Way up high into the sky,

And then upon the count of three,

Dropped lots of presents on the tree,

They hit the leaves with such a clatter,

None of them escaped the splatter,

So now the tree avoids such drama,

And understands that it was karma,

it learned that if you can’t be nice,

Be silent or at least think twice,

You never know who may pass by,

And it’s just lucky cows can’t fly.
