Plastic Succulent, Poetry by Chase Morris

Plastic Succulent by Chase Morris

A new era. Hope for us: fading.
Granted, we had the potential for our essential happiness.

Chasing of the natives this furtive soil became our burden because of our selfishness.

This dark matter born from whores that were then conceived from mold of the Apple.

Over time like that of a rocking chair. The few of us lose our strong purpose from being used.

A fragile lotus standing in the midsts of poison. Peer pressured for evil.

The rest of us lotuses who see consistent hatred, camoflauge under abandoned pavements that have no name.

Where we grow beautifully as we should…

Yet never found or appreciated until we are eradicated.

A Black Women’ Plea, Poetry by Latonia Sears

Genre: Life, Society

A Black Women’ Plea
 by Latonia Sears

I am so tired of all the death an destruction
the collection of lifeless bodies is reaking
and has left an odor

The smell of injustice is fowl
and is leaving a strong scent in the air
the disgusting fragrance of death

While all of the victims families
watch all of these black men
taken down and laid to rest

No politician or public servant
had the forsght to shed a tear
it only hit home for them

when some of their comrades
were taken away from here
even then they still won’t stop this and quit

To serve and protect or protect and serve
either way it always turns to death in the end
like they hate us and are not interested in making a mends

They are taking lives at an enormous rate
most of the time it is out right murder
fueled by racially motivated hate

The life of a black man has no worth to these servants
not the lives they have taken or the families
they caused so much sorrow

Knowing their husbands, fathers and brothers
won’t be here tomorrow although throughout
time we have continued to survive

Even for all this time
while we have been continuously
been persecuted and shoved asside

We will stand up and say enough is enough
and we are not taking it anymore
remembering to show unity as we walk through that door

Black has always had black power
not power over black
wev’e already won that fight

We are Americans who demand justice
because we are a part of this country
our contributions are endless

We have fattened the pockets of many
some wrong, some right
some who are not afraid to stand up for what’s right

If Martin were here what would he do?
What about Malcolm or Mandella
what would they say and do?

It has become a national crisis
none of us are safe
from these men in blue

“By The People” “For The People”
are these the same people
as me and you

Bewildered. Poetry by Janice Gomez

Dim street light

Creatures of the night

Critters floating on the sidewalk

Passing pollution of toxic talk

Driving for stares of attention

Bewildered by Janice Gomez

Dim street light

Creatures of the night

Critters floating on the sidewalk

Passing pollution of toxic talk

Driving for stares of attention

Dazed body performing without apprehension

Wrinkling inside destroying all purity

Dressed and laced covered with nudity

Timid to escape the lifestyle that is created

Vision of explorations for the mind to be sedated

Passed out as the sun blazed

Numb and awareness in a dazed

Starve for food and the next pleasurable

Standing by highways with labeled signs for a charitable

Can there be intervention?

Before another life heads to the next dimension?

At one time they were reputable…

Now, the darkness of rapidly hurt is inevitable.

Suspended love, Poetry by Anna

Flood and smoke on cities

Silent waves of early morning breeze

With ease dancing with each other slow sensual dance

of merging their essence, creating new presence

of feeling

To suspended wait for beauty of new day

Lovingly seek others beauties around,

in all forms, and sounds sudden moves and sights

Watching all rhythms of town, with no movement

After all day, just being it’s own universe of movies

Wild Freedom, Poetry by Shawntelle Moncy

Wild Freedom by Shawntelle Moncy

We are free like animals.
We are wild.

We climb trees for fun,
We swim to cool,
We sing
to feel free.

We are wild,
We love to be loved,
Hug to be hugged,
And then run like the wild wind,
to feel free.

We are wild,
We make memories to remember,
We ruin and we build,
We wonder and we get lost,
to feel free.

We are wild,
Or at least we could be,
Forever lost,
To be free.

These Are The Times, Poetry by Latonia Sears

So many in debt and

so many others going under

these are the times that make

us think which make us wonder

Genre: Life, Society

These Are The Times by Latonia Sears

So many in debt and

so many others going under

these are the times that make

us think which make us wonder

About the things we can’t change

everything is so different these days

really looks and sounds strange

These are the times when your every day

has become so fast paced

can’t slow down for this thing

we call the rat race

I can just imagine the stories you

have heard around town, on the news,

on the corner or even in the schools

These are the times

when we must stick together

break bread and say

a prayer with one another

Stop hurting start hugging

join hands and do something

stand beside each other

you know like brothers

Yes these are the times

that turn mice into men

and foe into friend

So what will we do

where will we go

don’t you know?

Time is ticking

while days are passing

make a decision

no more guessing

These are the times

not to run and hide

stand up be brave

show some pride

Yes these are the times

when “We The People”

have to make a change

and get on the bus

Remember these are the times

when you need to participate

because after all aren’t you

a part of this place?

FEAR, Poetry by Marcell Wallace a.k.a Poetikal Solution

There you are,
a photo of you smiling.
But now, here’s a mirror of you sad.
I can tell something stole your joy
and you want to go back to that photo smiling
Instead looking in the mirror sad.
You just want to be normal again.
I sense that you are afraid.

FEAR by Marcell Wallace
a.k.a Poetikal Solution

There you are,
a photo of you smiling.
But now, here’s a mirror of you sad.
I can tell something stole your joy
and you want to go back to that photo smiling
Instead looking in the mirror sad.
You just want to be normal again.
I sense that you are afraid.
Too busy putting your trust in fear or your fear in trust.
The fear of the unknown that is known is still fear,
One only hopes when it’s near,
They courage it up to get a backbone,
So they won’t be consumed in their nightmare.
There’s a war going on,
Outside there’s peace and protection.
Inside, you are a living breathing storm with radar palms
pulse like earthquake
Nerve shaking anxiety
No peace in between touchdowns
I seen you spot a tornado before the funnel forms with those hurricane eyes
Hail size tears
Your destructive behavior
Is bringing your strength down,
Self-control it Or it will control you.
You just want to go back to that photo smiling
Instead a mirror sad.
I’ll be glad to have you back,
That, every in half moon, full moon, new moon laugh.
That, calm before and after the storm,
Your, cloudy sun rays that shine on my rainy days.
That makes me thankful to be alive.
I too want you to be normal again
But it’s your civil war you must end.
It have to be in your heart to no fly zone your climate change.
Cease fire your mouth from shooting down your ability to overcome.
The storms will only grow violently worse as time goes on.
He who is always watching the wind does not sow;
he who always keeps his eyes on the clouds will not reap.
Hold fast my love
You can do it
Peace

These Shoes, by Latonia Sears

Most of the time people see you without knowing
What is really on your mind
making comments about the shoes you wear
because they are torn a leaning to the side
Laughing saying how they would not be caught dead in
raggedy shoes such as these

Genre: Freeform/ Society

These Shoes
by Latonia Sears

Most of the time people see you without knowing
What is really on your mind
making comments about the shoes you wear
because they are torn a leaning to the side
Laughing saying how they would not be caught dead in
raggedy shoes such as these
although for you it is a blessing for you
to have these shoes on your feet
For not everyone can wear these shoes
they are yours and fit you just right
the appearance of these shoes should be the last thing
on your mind while you have them in your sight
Just to walk in someone else’s shoes is extraordinarily in itself
history onfirms that so many have tried and failed
In these shoes you can walk life’s path
looking through some else ‘s eyes
It is not an easy task to see
another’s hopes and dreams
their beginnings and endings
and how they paid the price
Everyone’s shoes have walked a different path
some have strolled the red carpet while others
have walked through fire and glass
Although to each it was never a bother
Exactly like Jesus Christ and the shoes he wore
which made him destined to walk on water
All I am saying is shoes are shoes
no matter what style or size
It is the feet in the shoes that make the difference
Even if they are tired and ugly inside
So the next time just stop that person and
ask them where those shoes have taken them in life
and if you actually stop and talk to them
you can see their whole story
from the expression in their eyes

Wrongness, Poetry by Julie Martin

Dread crawls up your arm

On Sprightly legs

You cannot shake the feeling

Of a wrongness

Genre: Life, Society

Wrongness by Julie Martin

Dread crawls up your arm

On Sprightly legs

You cannot shake the feeling

Of a wrongness

As you stand there at twilight

Dark on a moonless night

Beside the empty eyes of a stranger

That shine under the glare of a moving train

Closer now, he creeps

Leaning, leering, targeting, choosing,

Will you be next?

As you debate whether to run or face your fate

His asymmetrical grin grows

His movements jerky, he’s been made

What will you do?

Thick blankets spread out in your dry throat

Can you cry out?

He turns to face you, a blessing to his hunger

Can you run?

Not a moment for impotent rage now

A moment for caution, a moment for speed

Open your eyes wide, pupils dilated

It’s crazy time

Saliva pools from your dry lips as you bare your teeth

A hiss here, a growl there

Fingers become claws as you prepare to fight

Disappointment clouds his features

Doubt dulls eyes once bright

You’re not on the menu tonight.
