Poem: Loving with an Arrhythmia, by J. NACALABAN

Genre: Love, Romance, Relationship

I have mastered the act of looking calm,
When my brain floods with dopamine,
And the sensors in my head transmit messages
To the other parts of my body, particularly my heart
To beat wildly and fast like an out of control drum
That it hurts so badly, but it will never show in my face.
I am the master of disguise,
That every time you’d look into my eyes, or touch my hand,
Or say my name – I’d look as neutral as I could.
Even though my chest screams in pain
Because, hey, this little acts of affection can make my heart beat faster,
So fast it forgets the rhythm that it should be beating in.
And somewhere inside my head, a loud sigh and an audible
“Here we go again,”
I can’t afford to be overjoyed and so I try not to think too much
On how beautiful you look when you laugh at that not-so-funny joke that I’ve
made,
Or how you tease me when I become childishly stubborn;
I can’t feel too excited, looking at you walk towards me
Because believe it or not, this dysfunctional heart can kill me.
But no matter how I try to suppress,
Fighting back with thoughts of dying,
That every time you lean your head on my shoulder,
Or look into my eyes, or touch my hand,
Or say my name – I’d risk skipping a beat,
If that’s what it takes for me to show how you make me happy.
If that’s what it takes for me to show how I love you.

Poem: In the Stars, by Marcus G. Taylor

 Genre: Love, Inspirational

We talked through the night with our hot cocoa on the coffee table
She said, can I tell you about this crazy dream I had, if I’m able
I said, by all means, share with me your awesome tale
She said, you may think I’m crazy but you’re here now so oh well
She continues, so last night I had a dream that I burst into a billion stars
My light washed over the universe, and I was healed from my scars
I felt this latitude of freedom that we always wish
But that felt natural: like air to a bird, water to a fish
Don’t you think that would be cool if it actually happened
And I said, when they commission for the phenomena’s point of origin, I will be the ship’s captain

Legendary, Poetry by Clara Pohlman

 Genre: Family, Love

 For my Brother Zachary

There he is
Mr president
Sitting in a wood stained chair with a coffee mug
From his trip to Colorado.
The tie he wears
Erupts with ivory, it is ironed
He too has ironed his thoughts into emails,
And the responses from philosophers
Cascade from the inbox of an envelope.

Aspiring to God’s plan he thinks,
His thoughts always turn
Into an examination of
Courage to stand up for his beliefs.

No feat
Is too scary for a legend.
Speed bumps are not
In his vocabulary.
New questions squirt answers
Into his K-cups
Every morning.

A girl he admires
Creeps her way
Into every loving gesture.
He puts faith
Into love and stocks love
In siblings and God.
Somehow God is always
Mentioned.

His prayers are sincere and words crunch of authenticity.

I want
To be my brother.
Someone who loves
Carelessly and acts
With humility
Winning is his
Hobby and losing
Is his strength.
To the future
President

This poem
Is dedicated.
Happy
Birthday Zachary,
I love
You!

Imperatives, Poetry by Divina Sobrepeña

 Genre: Romance, Relationship, Love

You will love me and I will not
understand how you can see worth
in eighty pounds of cuts and scars
engraved like small, secret tattoos.
wrong art hidden even from you,
like that picture you took of me,
my polystyrene face and hair,
a plastic gaze and rubber smile:
the painting of an amateur,
a sad, empty imitation.

So, forget about morning texts.
Do not flinch if I break away.
Never you mind to wait for me.
Forget and go about your day.

Sedona Noon, Poetry by Cliff Smith

Genres: Death, Funeral, Hope, Inspirational, Life, Love, Motivational, Philosophical, Redemption, Relationships, Religion, Song.

Life is so fine here on the line till you cross over.
Lose your mind cause you can’t find your four-leaf clover.

You’ll discover another lover and feel it inside.
Find your mother, love your brother, don’t run and hide.

Sedona noon, Sonoran moon, Saguaro Sunset.
Sing a tune, make love in June, and have no regret.

Feel your worth, measure its girth, trust your value.
From your birth here on this Earth, your spirit shines through.

Living right with all your might, you try to be true.
Turn off the night and seek the light until it blinds you.

Sedona noon, Sonoran moon, Saguaro Sunset.
Sing a tune, make love in June and have no regret.

The flowers bloom, there’s lots of room to reach the sky.
From the womb straight to the tomb, the clouds they pass by.

The mountains rise before our eyes
It’s what we seek to reach the peak.
When all is said, what’s done is done, the words we speak…

Sedona noon, Sonoran moon, Saguaro Sunset
Sing a tune, don’t leave too soon, and have no regret.

When it’s the end, feel it spin, it’s all behind you.
Take a leap, it’s yours to keep, now follow me through…

Sedona noon, Sonoran moon, Saguaro sunsets.
Sing a tune, make love in June and have no regrets.

Sedona noon, Sonoran moon, Saguaro sunset.
Sing a tune, make love in June, don’t leave too soon and have no regret.

Sedona noon, Sonoran moon, Saguaro sunsets.
I sang a tune, made love in June, I left too soon, but have no regrets.

Coda, Poetry by Forrest Jamie

Genres: Breakup, Closure, Heartbreak, Love, Relationships, Romantic, The End

—-

Darling boy
I know how this story goes –
it’s ours, after all
and I could read it
with my eyes closed.
And why must re-reading those chapters
of our one-sided love story
hurt so good?

You said that
my coffee brown eyes felt like home,
but you’re the wandering kind
and so
the timing is all wrong.
You never stay (in one place)
for too long.

I’m an open book.
I give myself to you
anywhere
anytime
and every time,
you leave with another torn up page of me
but I couldn’t care less if I tried.

We will always be
my favourite
romantic tragedy.

Forever, Poetry by George W Knox

Genre . Love

I beg to be counted among the crowds

who behold your splendour

for angels conspired to paint you

a masterpiece, forever displayed

in the gallery of my heart

and yet amongst the hoards

of those more deserving

I find only me

a speck of dust

in a mountain of humanity

for I raise my voice

to the heavens in awe

as angels saw fit to bind together

a woman so perfect

and an undeserving man

but still I grasp love’s jagged thorn

endure its pain

and smile

– safe in the knowledge

that I have given with certitude

my heart

as you travel through the depths of my being

to meet at a place where our hearts

can dwell

as you search for my soul

I will take you there

where bodies grow old

but the love in our heart

will always burn

and when the master beckons

I will look in your eyes

to wipe away a tear

with a final kiss…..

as we begin our journey

to eternity

George W Knox

I am love’s fool, Poetry by Aleck Miranda

Genre: Love

 I am love’s fool
Under the spell of those piercing eyes
Memories that replay moments
Conversations that wouldn’t die

Those hands that are still on mine
Long after you have gone
And that kiss that lingered behind
Days – nay – weeks, after it was done

Then the silence that followed
Knowing not what went wrong
The moments seemed perfect
Until I felt I didn’t belong

I’ve always been a stranger
To the world you hold dear
A world that you built
Out of angst and your own tears

You live in a place
Where there is love for another
Who’s broken your heart
And will never be your lover

And here I am
Cast to the side
Bared my own love
Now buried alive

I’ve hidden it deep
Yet it stirs when it sees you
It tries to remind me
Of what once was true

I am love’s fool
For I could not forget
How your lips felt on mine
Every thought with regret

The Rose, Poetry by psizan

 Genre: Hurt, Love

“Once you give me a rose
A red rose,
What has many thorns
I am holding it, still
Even though you’re gone.
Though it’s bleeding
Still, I am holding.

You promised me
You will never leave me alone,
But you are gone
The promise is broken,
Still, I am holding
My heart is bleeding,
Still, I am breathing
Odorous of the rose.
The red rose,
Though the rose is no more red
It’s covered with a black shade,
Still, I am holding it
Though you called it dead.

Though it hurts
I am holding it, still
Who cares,
I have no fears
I know my eyes is full of tears
But I am laughing.

I am holding it, still
I will hold it forever
As love dies never.”

Magnet Effect, Poetry by Jellian Nacalaban

Genre: Love
—-

 Conflicting sides of the universe:
Left and right; yin and yang; North and south,
Opposite side of the spectrum.
Like two forces on either side of a beam
With the fulcrum on the center – balancing
Equating without negating each other;
Take out either of the two and the other will be nothing,
An empty subset of the cosmos.
There won’t be one thing without the other,
There won’t be this without that;
There won’t be me without you.
We are like two opposite sides from different magnets,
That when directed by some greater force attract,
Like different jigsaw pieces from the same puzzle,
We fit – edges and all.
It’s science.
It’s a systematic arrangement of nature,
That you and me belong together.
Like left and right, yin and yang, north and south
Opposite side of the spectrum,
Pre-destined by the universe to coexist,
And balance each other. Forever
