It Comes in 3’s, Poetry by Anthony E. Barr

As many of you know
it comes in threes
just when you’ve had enough
more blows in with the evening breeze

Genre: Rhyme, Life

It Comes in 3’s
by Anthony E. Barr

As many of you know
it comes in threes
just when you’ve had enough
more blows in with the evening breeze

We’re quick to blame God
Yet quickly drop to our knees
Throughout our lives we receive
The forever unforeseen
As the devil dreams
Of ways to bring us to his unhappy

I’d like to tell you
About my best friend Jesus
His Crucifixion
Resurrection
Which helps us through this

With him one’s able to heal
With him one’s able to deal
Ripping out the shards of pain
That only the devil’s dealt
He’s the one that gave you
All the pain you felt

RIVER’S LIFE, Poetry by Matjaz Trcek

Peace through one,
peace through all,
I, carrier of flow to seed the banks,
to bring death and birth,

RIVER’S LIFE
by MATJAZ TRCEK

Peace through one,
peace through all,
I, carrier of flow to seed the banks,
to bring death and birth,
through cycle never ending.

Of underground caves of ever night life I am,
Flow of me that makes the springs,
takes the life from me to you.

Sadness is strong and happiness too,
for your’s will be short,
but mine will never end,
for your’s will be painful,
but mine forever content.

I nurse you till you join the soil,
coming back to me to explore the world.

Flow with me child,
feel all there is, was and will be,
for I am all.

HANK, Poetry by Karmen Skaro

Thousands of threads make up a hank of wishes and desire

In my stomach with whom you play.

One touch and threads disappear.

Instead, an eruption of most glorious rainbow colors appears.

HANK
by Karmen Skaro

Thousands of threads make up a hank of wishes and desire

In my stomach with whom you play.

One touch and threads disappear.

Instead, an eruption of most glorious rainbow colors appears.

The colors spread through the inland of a country you claimed to be yours,

Through the vastness of the sea you conquered.

Still the soul longing in thirst is waiting,

Waiting on a lonely shore waiting for the next upcoming wave.

Afterwards

Playful fingers

Loving eyes

Progressive rhythm

Dissipated thoughts

One hank untangled

And I Pray, Poetry by Marc Libidinsky

Be exalted, Lord our God, and
Cleanse Your vine with Grace;
Delight in mercy, give us Truth,
Even the righteous words of Faith.

Genre: Spiritual, Religion

  And I Pray (Acrostic)
by Marc Libidinsky

Be exalted, Lord our God, and
Cleanse Your vine with Grace;
Delight in mercy, give us Truth,
Even the righteous words of Faith.

Favor us and hear our prayers.
Give to us Your Kingdom’s peace;
Honor and glory belong to You
In this life, and so we plead,

“Jesus fill our hearts with Love –
Kindness from our God;
Lifting us in due season,
Make us righteous by Your blood!”

Nothing greater than Your power
Or Your Name can lift us up!

Power and might belong to Jesus.
Quench not His Spirit with false ways.
Return with hunger to your first love –
Sanctify Jesus in your days.

Tell of all His wondrous works, and
Unite your hearts in simple praise!

We cry to You, our holy Savior,
Xalted, You are lifted up;
Your name is Hope and we declare it –

Zealous love will fill our cup!

To love a life, Poetry by Christopher Hughes

Eccentric maybe…but I know that I’m in love but my demons they torture me. My Love. Have you ever closed your eyes and just pictured bliss. Or even better yet dear love; closed your eyes and seen shear terror amidst your bliss? To love unconditionally, my soul? My dear and sweet heart. My soul tear at me, yet I can not find the person to fill my void. I’m trying to love myself. But where can this love come from if it has literally died and dried up from my life.

Genres: Love and depression

To love a life
by Christopher Hughes

My Love? How dare I address you so?

Or maybe I’m the crazy one…

Eccentric maybe…but I know that I’m in love but my demons they torture me. My Love. Have you ever closed your eyes and just pictured bliss. Or even better yet dear love; closed your eyes and seen shear terror amidst your bliss? To love unconditionally, my soul? My dear and sweet heart. My soul tear at me, yet I can not find the person to fill my void. I’m trying to love myself. But where can this love come from if it has literally died and dried up from my life.

It’s quite painstaking…to say the very least. Your soul has left your body and yet what do you do?? Your yesterdays are gone. You can’t take them back. Your heart yearns and begs forgiveness yet you never get any. Do you really deserve forgiveness? Or should you just continue to beg?

I try to keep my head high and be hopeful, but finding a love and losing it is a hard one.

What is love?

To me it means this: Giving yourself unconditionally to someone and despite their faults and failures…you accept them unconditionally. Yet I have failed the ultimate sin of infidelity. Oh my heart and soul…how you torment me.

First we must dig within ourselves to love ourselves.

The Journey With Love, Poetry by Natalie Liessmann

The Journey With Love
by Natalie Liessmann

She felt the sting of salt water tears

Streaming down from her eyes

“If we are supposed to be together…

Then please help me!”

To her angels she cried

The angels gathered together

To rush in and help this love

They knew the only way to assist her

Was to free her from a man undeserving of

The just woman sat there crying

Wiping her tears on her shirt

“We are going to help you”

The angels said…

“Only, this is going to hurt.”

The woman could not hear it,

But soon enough she’d see

Just what the angels meant

When her beloved walked away

And she fell down on her knees

She cried out in pain

“I asked you for help angels!

How could you do this to me?”

The angels wrapped their wings around her

“Sweet child,” they whispered, “can’t you see?”

“We gave you what you asked for…

A life filled with more love…

Now is your chance to connect with source

And fill yourself from above.

Take this time to recover

And heal all that’s been broken.

And over time you’ll learn to love

Even more than just words spoken.

You’ll see that the love you crave from him

Has been in you all along

And the memory of this pain will disappear

As your heart learns the lyrics to a new song.

So do not fear sweet soul

That your option for love was just that one

For in darkness you begin to fly away

Your journey with love…has only begun.”

That Monster, Poetry by Xiomara Colon

For every girl that has been touched the wrong way. For every girl that lives in shame everyday. For every girl that can’t find a way out.

This poem is a motivational and painful poem for women who were molested physically and is being haunted by the event.

That Monster
by Xiomara Colon

For every girl that has been touched the wrong way. For every girl that lives in shame everyday. For every girl that can’t find a way out. For every girl that tried to shout to get away from all the pain caused by someone taking advantage of the voulnerable frame. For all girls that are too afraid to tell, who’s self respect was once high but with that violation fell. For every girl that cries at night recalling that monster that took what he wanted without a fight. It wasn’t your fault so stop living in shame. Remember ma nothing ever happens in rain. Speak out and yell for help, because your a survivor no longer a victim. No, you’ve become wiser. You have more strength than what you see. Don’t lock it up mama just let it be free. He molested your body and broke you down; made you a joke for everyone to clown. Don’t let him take your body and soul. What’s yours is still yours, so take back control.

MY LOVE JONES, Poetry by Poet U.B.

I fell for a boy from Queens

His voice took over my heart

His face occupied my dreams

But me on the west, so far apart

To tell him how much he means

Writing my feelings down I’ll start

Genre: Love

My Love Jones

I fell for a boy from Queens

His voice took over my heart

His face occupied my dreams

But me on the west, so far apart

To tell him how much he means

Writing my feelings down I’ll start

Although he’ll never read it

He’ll never truly know

He’ll never understand how it

Will help me grow

To listen to his lyrics, sit

Contemplate and feel his flow

I nicknamed him My Love Jones

But as I grew life came along

And situations left me all alone

Then this Hood Jones came with a song

I thought how could he have known

I didn’t know then but choosing Hood Jones was so wrong

8 years of my life invested in the wrong man

Thought Our love was enough

For him I always took a stand

I stood down, stood tall when it got rough

A lifetime together was the plan

But I’ll say, My love wasn’t enough

I was the realest he’d ever find

Love unconditionally AND cook and clean

Get my own money, I grind

Yet he didn’t see me as a Queen

From the position I resigned

Now with tears in his eyes he begs to reconvene

If I could go back in time, rewind

If I knew then what I now see

That path of destruction I’d leave behind

But I couldn’t because my seeds wouldn’t be

If only love wasn’t so blind…

Starting all over from scratch, mother of three

Strong woman I’ve become

Back to me and fighting to believe

In love again without being dumb

Next time I don’t wanna have to leave

So I’ll stay real, stay fly and not look for my future him

Stay motivated so greatness I’ll achieve

Just when I thought life might be too hard

My Love Jones said, “She blew a good thing”

I knew that all too well, I too, was scarred

But I didn’t want the money, the house, or the ring

Next time for love I’ll hold a higher regard

Because our lives and hearts we’ll BOTH be dedicating

I appreciate time and destiny

Although My Love Jones may never find his way to me

The married life, fam and kids, I foresee

I left behind all of my debris

And God already gave his Son to me, Guaranteed

Focus on The Good Life, foundation of an oak tree.

Valentine’s Day Poem, Poetry by Elizabeth Miller

I used to make valentines for everyone I knew,

clumsily cutting construction paper hearts

I don’t remember exactly when I stopped making them.

Genres: love, nostalgia, relationships, romantic

“Valentine’s Day Poem”

by Elizabeth Miller

Pale pinks and lavenders

Glitter pens and stumpy Crayola markers

I used to make valentines for everyone I knew,

clumsily cutting construction paper hearts

I don’t remember exactly when I stopped making them.

You get a clumsily-cut poem instead,

a side effect of growing up

I could never cut you a heart from paper

and fill it with gaudy glitter glue

or scallop the edges with specialty scissors

I could never because

I can’t bear the thought of anything resembling scissors

nearing anything resembling your heart

I could never

So I cut you poems instead,

embellished with words instead of sparkles

I could write them with Crayola markers

if you’d like
